Jira Lite Mode — Low Spec Performance

)Overview
Speed up slow Jira on low-end PCs by disabling animations, shadows & blur. Unofficial, not affiliated with Atlassian.
Is Jira slow, laggy, or freezing on your computer? Jira Lite Mode is a free, unofficial performance extension that speeds up Jira Cloud (and Jira Server / Data Center) by stripping out the animations, shadows, and blur effects that make Jira feel heavy on low-end PCs, old laptops, Chromebooks, and machines with integrated graphics. Instead of a generic ad blocker or CSS tweak, Jira Lite Mode is built specifically for Jira's interface — every optimization targets exactly the things that make Jira feel sluggish: transition animations, drop shadows, backdrop blur/glass effects, heavy avatars and thumbnails, and unnecessary background network requests. WHY YOUR JIRA FEELS SLOW Jira's modern Atlaskit design system relies heavily on GPU-intensive CSS — animated transitions, layered shadows, and blurred glass panels. On high-end hardware this is barely noticeable. On a budget laptop, an office PC with integrated graphics, a Chromebook, a virtual desktop (VDI/RDP), or older hardware, the same effects cause real lag, stutter, and high CPU/GPU usage. WHAT JIRA LITE MODE DOES • One-click Low / Medium / High performance presets — pick how aggressive the optimization should be • Disables animations & transitions — the biggest CPU win — with fine-grained control over spinners, modal transitions, hover effects, and drag-and-drop • Removes drop shadows from cards, panels, modals, and dropdowns • Disables blur / "frosted glass" effects — the biggest GPU win on integrated graphics • Simplifies the board and backlog view, hides card/attachment thumbnails, and hides the help/chat widget • Speeds up long boards and backlogs by skipping render work for off-screen cards and rows • Uses your system font instead of downloading Jira's custom web font, avoiding layout shift • Automatically detects low-spec hardware (CPU cores / RAM) on install and starts you on the Low preset • Lazy-loads images automatically so off-screen avatars and thumbnails don't slow down page load • Optional experimental request cache that makes reopening the same Jira issue instant • Optional tracker/analytics blocking to cut extra background network noise • Toolbar badge, keyboard shortcuts, and settings export/import for power users WORKS ON Jira Cloud (*.atlassian.net) automatically, and Jira Server / Data Center on any domain you explicitly enable — this extension never requests access to sites you haven't approved. PRIVACY Jira Lite Mode collects no personal data, browsing history, or analytics of any kind. All settings are stored locally in your own browser. Nothing is ever sent to the developer or any third party. WHO IT'S FOR Anyone running Jira on a low-end PC, an aging office laptop, a Chromebook, a shared or virtual desktop (VDI/Citrix/RDP), or any machine with integrated graphics — support teams, developers, QA, and agile teams who just want Jira to feel fast and responsive again. Disclaimer: Jira Lite Mode is an independent, unofficial browser extension. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Atlassian.
