WikiTube — Turn Videos into Readable Articles
Overview
Turn YouTube videos into edited articles with chapters and takeaways. Hover a thumbnail to open; click text to seek to its source.
WikiTube turns YouTube videos with available captions into readable articles with chapters, timestamps, and key takeaways. READ WHERE YOU WATCH Use the book icon in YouTube's player controls, hover over a video thumbnail to reveal its article shortcut, or click the WikiTube toolbar icon. CHOOSE YOUR READING VIEW Open articles in a new tab, or choose a sidebar from the extension's Options page. The sidebar can overlay the page or sit beside the video. Adjust its width with the settings or drag its left edge; your preference is remembered. Click an article timestamp to jump to that moment in the original YouTube player. Close the sidebar or open the full article in a tab whenever you like. ARTICLES BUILT FOR READING Read structured paragraphs, chapter headings, key takeaways, and available language versions. English and Simplified Chinese extension interfaces are included. GET STARTED Install the extension, refresh YouTube, and open a video with captions. For sidebar reading, right-click the extension icon, open Options, and choose Sidebar. The default remains opening in a new tab. Previously generated articles are readable without an account. Generating a new article requires Google sign-in and is subject to a free daily quota (currently 5 new analyses). Caption availability and supported videos depend on YouTube. AI-generated articles may contain errors; use timestamps to check the source. DATA USE The extension reads video links, caption availability, and player state to provide its shortcuts and synchronized reader. It fetches captions without YouTube account cookies, and passes captions and video metadata to WikiTube when needed for article generation. Reading preferences stay in your browser. The sidebar displays the WikiTube website, including its sign-in and usage features. See our privacy policy for account data, analytics, service providers, and data deletion. WikiTube is an independent product and is not affiliated with or endorsed by YouTube or Google.
