Virtual Chemistry Lab
Overview
A virtual chemistry lab: all 118 elements, reactions, titration, electrolysis, gas tests and missions. Works offline.
Virtual Chemistry Lab is a free, offline chemistry lab you can run in a browser tab. Build your own compounds, then take them to the bench and run experiments the way a real lab does: pour, filter, heat, titrate, collect gases and measure everything on live graphs. Great for studying, revising before a practical, or just exploring what happens when you mix things. BUILD COMPOUNDS FROM ANY ELEMENT - An interactive periodic table with all 118 elements - Add elements to the reaction chamber, type in how many grams, and see what they can form - The app shows the yield, the leftover, and which element runs out first - Everything you make goes onto your shelf, ready for the bench A BENCH WITH AS MANY VESSELS AS YOU WANT - Beakers, flasks, test tubes and a polystyrene cup - Add as many vessels as you need, pour between them, or drag and drop bottles and apparatus - Type exact volumes, concentrations and masses - Filter solids onto paper, heat with a Bunsen burner, fit a condenser to distil - Watch colour changes, precipitates, bubbles and temperature as they happen GAS COLLECTION AND TESTS - Connect a gas syringe and measure the volume of gas given off - Identify the gas with a lit splint, a glowing splint, limewater or damp litmus REACTIONS THAT TAKE TIME - Reaction rates depend on temperature, concentration and surface area (lumps, granules or powder) - A live graph plots gas volume, temperature, pH or mass lost against time TITRATION - Fill a burette, pick an indicator, run in the titrant and watch the pH curve build - Find the end point and work out an unknown concentration ELECTROCHEMISTRY - Electrolysis: plate copper, swap the anode material, and see charge passed and mass gained - Electrochemical cells: choose two metals, set the ion concentrations, add or remove the salt bridge and read the voltage MORE PROCEDURES - Calorimetry: record the temperature rise of a neutralisation - Crystallisation: concentrate a solution, cool it and collect crystals - Distillation: separate pure water from a salt solution GRAPH TOOLS - Show data as dots, a straight line or a smooth curve - Hover or tap to read exact values - Draw a tangent to read the reaction rate - Keep a run as a faded line and compare it with the next one - Export your data as a CSV file or save the graph as an image for your lab report LEARN AS YOU GO - Guided tutorials for a first experiment, titration, electrolysis and electrochemical cells. Each one waits for you to do the task and tells you when you got it right. - 16 missions at three levels, from making table salt to finding the concentration of an unknown acid - Step-by-step hints for every mission, one at a time, so you can get help without being given the whole answer - Prefer to experiment freely? Switch to Free lab mode at any time PRIVATE AND SIMPLE - Works offline once installed - No account, no ads and no tracking - Your progress is saved on your own device only and nothing is sent anywhere HOW TO USE Click the extension icon in the toolbar. The lab opens in a new tab. PLEASE NOTE This is a simplified simulation for learning. It is not real-lab safety guidance, and some real-world details are left out. Do not try these reactions yourself without a teacher.
