Very handy to have with so much audio that hasn't been normalized. What would be _very_ handy and I think you can do it is if there were a "mono" button to take horridly recorded stereo and make it monaural. An example, the people that record interviews with one mic hard panned left and the other person hard panned right, or the videos that somehow have only one channel of audio recorded. If you have access to the stream to combine channels, it would be handy for sure.
