Jestr - local backup and offline mode for the apps you already use Jestr quietly mirrors your SaaS apps into a folder you own. No cloud, no accounts, no OAuth, no API keys — it rides the browser sessions you're already signed into. What it backs up Google Drive - every Doc, Sheet and Slide you open, re-saved on tab close so in-session edits are captured, as .docx / .xlsx / .pptx SharePoint - team sites you visit are indexed and downloaded in the background, keeping the site's original file tree Reddit - communities you open or subscribe to: posts, comments, icons and full-resolution media as JSON + Markdown Telegram - private chats, groups and channels with photos and video; messages deleted upstream are kept and marked Claude - all claude.ai conversations on a schedule, plus extracted artifacts One side panel, then silence Click the toolbar icon and everything lives in one panel: the Auto-redirect switch, what Jestr already holds for the tab you're on, and a storage row per app with size on disk, a pause switch, Sync now, and per-app settings. After setup nothing needs scheduling and nothing needs pressing. Offline mode Plane, dead zone, corporate firewall, or an outage upstream — flip on Auto redirect and any host Jestr collects is served from disk instead of the network: Drive documents, SharePoint libraries, Reddit threads with comments, whole Telegram histories, your Claude conversations. A paused app is never intercepted, and the toolbar badge shows a red AR whenever interception is armed, so you always know which world you're in. Your data outlives the account Accounts get locked, trials lapse, workspaces get deprovisioned, subreddits disappear, documents get revoked. Jestr keeps a complete, greppable copy on your own disk from the moment you install it rather than the moment you remember to export. Nothing upstream can delete your copy. The last five versions of every document are kept. Integrity checks borrowed from real backup tools — zip-magic validation, SHA-256 change gating, atomic writes — mean a stale login page never lands on top of a good backup. Storage is one shared budget (5 GB by default) enforced as a hard ceiling: at the limit Jestr stops and tells you, and never deletes one backup to make room for another. Portable by design Your backup is a plain folder you choose once — not a database, not a proprietary archive. Copy it to an external drive, sync it, move it to a new machine, and use Import to pull it back after a reinstall or on a fresh Chrome profile. Import only fills gaps and never overwrites what's already there. Restoring is deliberately boring: drag the .docx files back into Drive, read the Markdown anywhere, feed the raw JSON into your own tooling. Encrypted at rest File contents are sealed with a key only your passphrase unwraps: PBKDF2-SHA256 at 2,000,000 iterations for the vault key, a fresh per-file ECDH P-256 envelope through HKDF into AES-256-GCM, and a 128-bit recovery code issued at setup. Filenames use item IDs, not titles, so a directory listing isn't a table of contents. The lock re-arms on every browser restart, and because sealing needs only the vault's public key, backups keep running while the vault is locked. Stated plainly: the local index of titles, URLs and timestamps is not encrypted, but it never leaves for your mirror folder — a stolen folder yields nothing. And there is no reset: lose both the passphrase and the recovery code and the backups cannot be read. That's the design, not a gap in it.
