Iris is a Japanese dictionary and reader for Chrome. Hover over any Japanese word to see its kanji reading, meaning, JLPT level and pitch accent, right where you read: on websites, in video subtitles and in PDFs. Save the words you meet, review them with spaced repetition or export them to Anki. No account needed to start. The dictionary is built in, so word lookups stay on your device. POINT AT A WORD • Kana reading and romaji for every word, including kanji compounds and conjugated verbs • Meanings from a built-in dictionary, in English, Spanish, French or German • JLPT level (N5 to N1) and pitch accent on the word card • Hear the word with a voice on your device • Open cards by hovering, clicking or with a key WATCH WITH IRIS LIVE Point at the subtitles of a YouTube or Netflix video and it pauses while you read.
