Iris — Privacy & AI Safety
Overview
Detects trackers, fingerprinting & AI leaks. Flags unsafe citations, subscription traps & adult content. Open source.
Iris gives you a clear, real-time view of what happens behind the scenes when you browse the web. 🔍 Tracker Detection See every third-party tracker loaded on a page — analytics, advertising, social widgets, and more. Iris identifies them instantly without slowing down your browsing. 🎥 Session Recording Detection Some sites load "session replay" tools that record your every move — mouse movements, clicks, scrolls, even what you type. Iris detects 20+ of these services (Hotjar, Microsoft Clarity, FullStory and more) and warns you when you're being recorded. 🧬 Browser Fingerprinting Alerts Many sites silently collect your browser's unique characteristics to track you across sessions without cookies. Iris detects these attempts and lets you know. 🤖 AI Service Monitoring Iris detects when a website is making calls to external AI inference services, so you know when AI is being used to process your data or generate content in the background. 🔎 AI Source Trust When you use AI search engines like Perplexity, ChatGPT, or Kimi, an answer is only as trustworthy as its sources. Iris checks the cited domains against a database of 160+ low-credibility sources and flags the ones worth a second look. 🔮 Anti-GEO Detection A growing industry now optimizes websites specifically to be quoted by AI (known as GEO). Iris spots the tell-tale signs — AI-targeted structured markup and llms.txt files — so you know when an answer may be shaped by optimization rather than genuine authority. ⚠️ Fake AI Site Detection Scammers create convincing fake AI websites to steal your information. Iris identifies common patterns used by these sites and warns you before you interact. 🛡️ Dark Pattern Detection Iris flags manipulative design that works against you: subscription traps (auto-renewal and trial-to-paid wording, in English, Chinese and Japanese), cookie banners that hide the "reject" option, and "confirmshaming" buttons designed to guilt you into clicking yes. ✅ Open Source & Zero Bandwidth Iris works entirely locally. It does not send your data anywhere. The full source code is publicly available on GitHub. Simple. Transparent. In control.
