CLIPKEY
Overview
Save web highlights and extract key points with your own AI key.
đď¸ CLIPKEY is a local-first Chrome side-panel tool for saving web content, organizing it, and revisiting the key points with your own AI key. đ Save quickly - Select text and choose **âSave to ClipKeyâ** from the context menu - Use keyboard shortcuts to save selected text or the current page - The side panel opens automatically after saving - Capture the visible area, or stitch a full-page screenshot when needed đ More than web clips Add notes in the bottom of the side panel, or paste text, images, and video links. For supported video links, ClipKey tries to read the page title, description, available captions, and official thumbnail. If content cannot be read, it says so clearlyâit does not pretend to have watched the video. ⨠Extract key points with your own AI key After you configure an OpenAI-compatible API key, ClipKey can generate a short title and key points, and automatically place unorganized clips into folders. Add a provider with the vendor wizard â DeepSeek, OpenAI, Moonshot, or Claude â by entering only your API key, and let ClipKey read that provider's live model catalog so you can pick from real model IDs; the custom (OpenAI-compatible) entry still accepts any base URL. If no key is configured, the request fails, or the source cannot be read, the app shows a clear error instead of inventing a summary. đ Organize and personalize - Clips live in Inbox, All, Archived, and Trash views, each showing its own live count - Combine filters for source, favorites, and content type (AI key points, images, links or video, text or notes) - Search titles, text, notes, URLs, AI key points, video links, and folder names - The batch toolbar is collapsed by default behind a small âBatch actionsâ handle, and the scope-export buttons (âExport current folderâ / âExport allâ) follow that same handle, so the list stays uncluttered until you need them - Select several clips to move, favorite, archive, move to trash, restore, or export to an Agent at once - Deleting moves clips to Trash first: local images and screenshots are kept, and you can undo within 8 seconds or restore later - Folders, time sorting, and custom drag-and-drop ordering; pin, rename, or delete folders - Ink and Sand themes; light mode, dark mode, or follow system appearance - Switch the entire interface between Chinese, English, Japanese, and Korean; the side panel, context menu, toolbar labels, and AI output language update together đŹ Feedback and suggestions Feedback entries sit in the settings page, the top navigation, AI results and error messages, empty states, and the export dialog. The dialog can copy our support email or open your mail app. Feedback never carries your clips, images, API key, or sign-in token. đ Local-first and under your control Your data is stored locally in `chrome.storage.local` by default. Optional Google sign-in syncs clips to your own Drive app-data folder, and the sync area always shows whether the last sync succeeded or why it failed. This version hides the offline ZIP backup entry by default; Agent export remains available. The developer does not run a server that relays your clips and does not store your API key. đĄ About the web preview The public preview lets you explore the side panel, search, folders, themes, and settings. Web-page reading, context-menu actions, and real screenshots are available only after installing the extension. What's new (0.5.5 â 0.5.6) - Tighter side-panel chrome so the clip list gets more visible space, without shrinking list text. - Japanese and Korean UI, plus a four-language privacy policy that follows ink/sand and light/dark. - Removed âload samplesâ; only explicitly marked historical samples are cleaned. - Hid the offline ZIP backup entry by default (implementation kept); Agent export remains. - Clearer Google sign-in errors and Identity cleanup on sign-out. Sync is Google-only in this release; Apple and Huawei entries are hidden until later. What's new (0.5.1 â 0.5.4) - Add AI providers with a vendor wizard: choose DeepSeek, OpenAI, Moonshot, or Claude, enter only your API key, and the official endpoint is filled in for you. - Read the provider's real model catalog before saving; embedding, TTS, image-generation, and redundant dated snapshots are collapsed by default, with search, a âshow allâ toggle, multi-select, and the first model you tick as the default. - Providers render as cards with the vendor mark, current model, connection state, and a âdefaultâ badge; the same vendor can be configured more than once (two keys or different gateways). - The batch toolbar is collapsed by default behind a âBatch actionsâ handle: checking a clip expands it, and the scope-export buttons (âExport current folderâ / âExport allâ) appear with it. - A unified âFeedback and suggestionsâ entry across the settings page, top navigation, AI results and errors, empty states, and the export dialog. - Existing configurations need no migration, and API keys are still stored only on your device. What's new in 0.5.0 - New Inbox, All, Archived, and Trash views with live counts, plus combinable filters for source, favorites, and content type. - Search now covers titles, text, notes, URLs, AI key points, video links, and folder names. - Multi-select toolbar: move, favorite, archive, move to trash, restore, or export several clips at once. - Deleting moves clips to Trash first; undo within 8 seconds or restore later, and local images are kept. - Restoring a clip returns it to its previous folder and archived state, falling back to Uncategorized when the folder is gone. - Sync status now shows the last successful time and a readable failure reason, and trashed clips no longer delete their remote Drive attachments. ### Short description CLIPKEY is a side-panel clipper. Save selections, pages, screenshots, and mixed notes. Extract key points with your own OpenAI-compatible API key. Data stays on-device unless you opt in to Google Drive appData sync.
