Overview
Test ping, download and upload speed in your browser, detect VPN/proxy, then copy or save a PNG result.
Test ping, download and upload speed directly in Chrome with Internet Speed Test. The extension opens a clean browser overlay, runs a short network speed test, detects possible VPN/proxy use, and lets you copy or download a PNG result card without leaving the page you are working on. When a video call starts stuttering, a game feels laggy, or your ISP plan looks faster on paper than in real life, you need a quick connection speed check. This Chrome connection checker helps you measure the practical state of your internet connection before a meeting, livestream, support chat, hotel WiFi session, or home network troubleshooting step. ⚡ Measure the core connection metrics people actually ask for: ping latency, download speed, upload speed and a clear Mbps summary. 📶 Check WiFi, fiber, cable, 5G, DSL, office networks, hotel networks and public hotspots from the same lightweight browser tool. 🛡️ Detect VPN or proxy signals before reading the result, so you know when privacy tools may affect the speed test. 📋 Copy the final result as a PNG image to the clipboard for support tickets, chats, reports or quick comparison notes. 💾 Download a local PNG result card when you want a simple record of the connection test without building a spreadsheet. ⏱️ Cancel a running test, watch real-time progress, and let the download stage finish early when the measured speed has stabilized. Useful scenarios for this internet speed checker: 🚀 Run a quick connection check before Zoom, Teams, Meet or a remote interview. 🎮 Check ping before gaming, cloud gaming or a low-latency work session. 🎥 Verify upload speed before streaming, uploading large files or sending video assets. 🧰 Compare WiFi networks, routers, VPN locations or office connections with a saved result card. The extension uses public network test endpoints to perform the measurement: browser requests for latency, CDN-style download data, upload test endpoints, and a public VPN/proxy lookup. It does not promise a lab-grade certification of your ISP line. Results can change with server location, WiFi quality, VPN/proxy routing, browser conditions, device load and general network congestion. Run more than one check if you are documenting a recurring connection issue, especially when comparing WiFi, VPN and wired connections across the same day. Open the tool through ShiftShift in three ways: Press Shift twice from any supported webpage to open the command palette quickly. ⌨️ Use Cmd+Shift+P on Mac or Ctrl+Shift+P on Windows and Linux, then search for the connection checker. Click the browser toolbar icon to open the ShiftShift palette or fallback page when a content script is unavailable. ShiftShift also gives you keyboard navigation with arrow keys, Enter and Esc, quick search across installed tools, sorting by frequency or alphabetically, light/dark/system themes, and 52 interface languages. The command palette may show recommendations for other ShiftShift extensions. You can dismiss recommendations you do not want to see. Privacy and storage notes: theme, language, double-Shift and usage settings are stored in Chrome storage. ShiftShift may send basic analytics events such as palette open, close and tool usage, and the measurement itself contacts public endpoints to measure your connection. The PNG result is generated in the browser and copied or downloaded only when you choose that action. Install Internet Speed Test to check connection quality faster, document network issues clearly, and keep a shareable connection result close to your browser workflow.
