Whether you are working, studying, researching, or relaxing, you can see which sites take up your time and make more informed choices about your day. **Your browsing at a glance** Click the extension icon to see a summary of your browsing activity. Review your total tracked time, the number of websites visited, and the website where you spent the most time. A ranked list shows your most-used sites, with familiar website icons and each site’s share of your browsing time. Switch between today, the last seven days, and the last thirty days to explore recent habits. The popup gives you a quick overview, while the full dashboard lets you look more closely at your history. **Explore the details** Open the dashboard to understand how your browsing changes over time. View total browsing time, the number of sites visited, your daily average on days with activity, and your busiest day within the selected period. A daily chart makes patterns easier to spot. Use preset periods or choose a custom date range to focus on a particular week, project, or stretch of activity. The website table lets you: - See websites ranked by tracked time. - Compare time totals and percentage shares. - Expand a website to view its day-by-day breakdown. - Select several websites to see their combined time. You can group sites yourself when reviewing a habit. For example, select the social websites you use to understand their combined total, or select research tools to see how much time you spent across them. **Put your time into perspective** Instead also translates your browsing time into everyday activities: pages you could have read, steps you could have walked, songs you could have listened to, or episodes you could have watched. These comparisons use simple estimates to make time easier to picture. They offer a moment to reflect on how you want to spend your next hour. **Tracks active browsing** Instead follows the active website in your focused browser window. Tracking pauses when the browser loses focus, when your device is locked, or after sixty seconds of inactivity. It resumes when you return to active browsing. Time is grouped by website hostname, giving you a view of usage across a site. **Your history stays local** Website hostnames and browsing-time records are stored locally in your browser. Instead does not send your browsing history to a developer server. It does not store full page URLs or page contents. The extension keeps up to ninety days of history, and you can clear your recorded history using the built-in control.
