InstaTools — Clean Up Your Instagram in Batches InstaTools is a browser tool that helps you take back control of your Instagram history. If you've ever tried to delete years of old comments, unlike photos you no longer care about, remove reposts, or clear out old posts one at a time, you already know how painful that process is — Instagram simply wasn't built for bulk cleanup. InstaTools fixes that by automating the exact same "select, delete, confirm" actions you'd do by hand, just faster, in organized batches, with built-in pauses so you're not click-click-clicking for hours. InstaTools does not use any private or undocumented Instagram API. It does not ask for your password, does not log in on your behalf, and does not connect to any external server. Everything happens inside your own browser, using your own already-logged-in Instagram session, by automating clicks on Instagram's own built-in tools — the same "Select" and "Delete" buttons you'd use manually. Think of it as a very fast, very patient assistant clicking through your own account settings for you. WHAT INSTATOOLS DOES InstaTools currently supports four cleanup modes, all built around the same reliable mechanism Instagram already provides: 1. Comments — Bulk-delete comments you've left on any post, anywhere on Instagram, using Instagram's own "Your Activity → Interactions → Comments" management screen. 2. Likes — Bulk-remove likes from posts you've liked in the past, using Instagram's own "Your Activity → Interactions → Likes" screen. This is a great way to reset your like history or simply declutter what Instagram's algorithm has learned about your taste over the years. 3. Reposts — Bulk-remove your reposts using the equivalent "Your Activity → Interactions → Reposts" management tool. 4. Posts — Bulk-delete your own posts directly from your profile grid's built-in multi-select feature. This is the one mode that needs your Instagram username (just typed in once and remembered locally) so InstaTools knows which profile to open. Because Instagram already provides a native multi-select tool for each of these four categories, InstaTools doesn't have to guess at how to interact with your account. It simply automates the exact clicks you would make yourself: open the management screen, click "Select," check the boxes, click "Delete" (or "Unlike," depending on the category), and confirm. InstaTools just does it over and over, batch after batch, so you don't have to sit there repeating the same four clicks hundreds of times. THE CONTROL PANEL Whenever you're on one of the four supported Instagram screens, a small floating panel appears in the bottom-right corner of the page. This panel is where everything happens: — Batch Size: how many items InstaTools selects and removes in a single pass before pausing. This is capped at 24, deliberately kept just under Instagram's own internal limit of 25 items per bulk selection, so you never bump into a rejected or partially-processed batch. — Delay Between Actions: the number of milliseconds InstaTools waits between individual clicks (selecting a checkbox, clicking Delete, confirming, etc.). The default is 700ms, which mimics a normal, unhurried pace. You can raise this if you ever see Instagram show a rate-limit or error message — a longer delay reduces how "bursty" the automation looks to Instagram's systems. — Repeat Again After (Seconds): once a batch is fully processed, InstaTools waits this many seconds before starting the next batch. This is adjustable between 15 and 60 seconds, with a live on-screen countdown so you always know exactly what's happening and when the next batch will begin. This pacing exists specifically to avoid hammering Instagram's servers with back-to-back requests. — Skip Items On Posts By: an optional list of usernames (comma-separated) whose posts you want left alone. For example, if you're clearing out old comments but want to keep everything you've said on a close friend's or partner's posts, just add their username here and InstaTools will skip over any item tied to them. — Start / Stop: Start begins the batch process using your current settings. Stop can be pressed at any time — InstaTools will finish whatever single action it's mid-way through and then halt cleanly, rather than stopping abruptly in a broken state. — Live Stats: three small counters track Batches completed, Items Removed, and Errors encountered, so you always have a running total of what's happened during the current session. — Activity Log: a small scrolling log at the bottom of the panel narrates what InstaTools is doing in plain language — which batch it's on, when it's waiting, and if anything went wrong and why. Nothing happens silently or invisibly. — Home / Minimize / Close: every panel has three header controls. Home takes you back to the main Instagram feed. Minimize collapses the panel down to just its title bar so it's out of your way while still running in the background. Close stops anything in progress and hides the panel on that page entirely (it will reappear automatically the next time you navigate to a supported Instagram page, so you're never permanently locked out of it). DELETE ALL — ONE-CLICK FULL CLEANUP For anyone who wants a truly clean slate, InstaTools includes a "Delete All" button on the Comments, Likes, Reposts, and Posts panels. Clicking it asks for a one-time confirmation (because this action is permanent), then automatically works through all four categories in sequence — Comments, then Likes, then Reposts, then Posts — fully clearing each one before moving to the next. You don't need to babysit each tab or manually switch between screens; InstaTools handles the navigation between Instagram's different management pages on its own. Once every category has been fully cleared, you'll see a simple confirmation popup letting you know the entire cleanup is finished. If you press Stop at any point during a Delete All run, the entire chain is cancelled — InstaTools will not silently skip ahead to the next category. You stay in control the whole time. WHY BATCHES AND DELAYS INSTEAD OF INSTANT DELETION Instagram's own tools already impose a 25-item cap per bulk selection — that's a platform limitation, not something InstaTools invented. On top of that, InstaTools deliberately paces itself with configurable delays and small amounts of built-in timing variation between actions, rather than firing off requests as fast as technically possible. This isn't about hiding what the tool does — the activity log tells you exactly what's happening every step of the way — it's simply good practice for any tool that automates repeated actions against a live web service: a steady, moderate pace is friendlier to the platform you're using than a rapid-fire burst, and it reduces the odds of hitting temporary rate limits that could otherwise interrupt your cleanup halfway through. HOW TO USE INSTATOOLS Getting started takes less than a minute: 1. Install the extension and pin it to your toolbar for easy access. 2. Make sure you're logged into Instagram in the same browser. 3. Click the InstaTools icon in your toolbar. You'll see four buttons: Open Comments Activity, Open Likes Activity, Open Reposts Activity, and Open My Posts. 4. Click whichever one matches what you want to clean up. InstaTools will open the correct Instagram page for you (asking for your username once if you choose Posts). 5. The InstaTools panel will appear automatically in the bottom-right corner. 6. Review the default settings (Batch Size, Delay, Repeat interval) and adjust them if you'd like — the defaults work well for most people, but if you're clearing a very large history, you may want to increase the delay and repeat interval to be extra cautious. 7. If there's anyone whose posts you want to leave untouched, add their username to the "Skip items on posts by" field. 8. Click Start and watch the activity log and live counters as InstaTools works through your history in batches. 9. Click Stop at any time if you want to pause and reassess. 10. Repeat for any of the other three categories, or use Delete All to clear everything in one guided sequence. WHAT INSTATOOLS DOES NOT DO To be completely transparent about the scope of this tool: — It does not access, read, or store the content of your comments, likes, or posts beyond what's needed in the moment to click the right buttons. — It does not send any of your Instagram data to any external server, developer, or third party. All processing happens locally in your browser. — It does not require your Instagram password or login credentials — it works entirely within your existing, already-authenticated browser session. — It does not affect anyone else's account, content, or activity. Every action is scoped to your own comments, likes, reposts, and posts. — It does not guarantee immunity from Instagram's own rate-limiting or account-review systems. Automating repetitive actions, even paced and deliberate ones, is a form of bot-like behavior from a platform's perspective, and InstaTools cannot promise Instagram will never flag or temporarily limit an account that uses it heavily. — It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Instagram, Meta, or any of their subsidiaries in any way. PERMISSIONS EXPLAINED Chrome extensions are required to request specific permissions, and InstaTools keeps this list as short as possible: — Storage: used to remember your settings (batch size, delay, repeat interval, skip-list) between sessions, and to remember your username for the Posts feature, so you don't have to re-enter everything every time. This data is stored locally in your browser using Chrome's built-in storage API — it is never transmitted anywhere. — Host permission for instagram.com: required so the extension can run its control panel and automation logic on Instagram's website. InstaTools does not request access to any other website. It cannot see, read, or interact with any site other than instagram.com. No permissions are requested for browsing history, other websites, your camera, microphone, location, or any other browser API beyond the two listed above. IMPORTANT THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE YOU START Please read this section carefully — it matters. Deletion is permanent. Once a comment, like, repost, or post is removed through InstaTools, it cannot be recovered, in exactly the same way it couldn't be recovered if you'd deleted it manually through Instagram's own interface. There is no undo button, no trash folder, and no way for InstaTools (or Instagram) to bring deleted content back. Please start with a small batch size the first time you use any mode, confirm the results look correct, and only then scale up if you're comfortable. This tool automates actions that Instagram's interface is designed for you to perform manually, one at a time. While InstaTools never uses any private API, bypasses no security measures, and only clicks buttons that are already visible and available to you as a normal user, using any form of automation on a social platform may fall outside the spirit — and in some cases the letter — of that platform's Terms of Service. This is true of virtually all browser automation and bulk-management tools, not just InstaTools. Use this tool with that understanding, and at a pace you're comfortable with. Instagram's page layout can change at any time, as it does periodically for any actively-maintained platform. InstaTools is built around Instagram's current interface elements (the "Select" control, checkboxes, and confirmation dialogs), and if Instagram meaningfully redesigns these screens in the future, some functionality may need to be updated to match. When InstaTools can't find something it expects, it is designed to stop and clearly report the issue in its activity log rather than clicking blindly or doing something unintended. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Does InstaTools work on mobile? No. InstaTools is a Chrome browser extension and only runs on desktop Chrome. It does not work in the Instagram mobile app or in mobile browser versions of Instagram. Does this work on Facebook too? Not currently. This version of InstaTools is built specifically for instagram.com. Can I choose exactly which comments/likes/posts get deleted, or only "everything"? Right now InstaTools processes items in the order Instagram's own management screens present them, in batches, until everything is cleared (or until you click Stop). The "Skip items on posts by" field lets you exclude specific people's posts from the process. What happens if I close my browser or navigate away mid-batch? InstaTools will simply stop where it was. Nothing is left in a broken or half-finished state — individual delete actions either complete or they don't; there's no partial deletion of a single item. Will this get my account banned? InstaTools is designed to behave as much like a careful, deliberate human user as reasonably possible — pacing itself with delays, respecting Instagram's own 25-item batch limit, and automatically detecting and pausing on rate-limit warnings. That said, no automation tool can make an absolute guarantee about how any platform's enforcement systems will respond, and you should use InstaTools with that understanding. Is my data safe? Yes. InstaTools does not collect, transmit, sell, or store your Instagram content anywhere outside your own browser. There is no backend server, no analytics tracking, and no third-party data sharing of any kind. Is this an official Instagram or Meta product?
