A distraction-free writing app. Live markdown styling, table of contents, and real file save. Your words stay on your machine.
Ink — A quiet place to write The free & light alternative to iA Writer or Ulysses: a distraction-free writing app with live markdown, a peekable table of contents, and real file save. Ink is a quiet place to write. It opens to a blank page in beautiful serif type, hides every button until you need one, and saves your words to real files on your disk. No accounts, no cloud, no tracking — your text stays on your machine. WHAT'S INSIDE • Live markdown styling. Type # for a heading, ** for bold, > for a quote — and watch the text take its shape as you write. The markup stays visible, only quieter. • A peekable table of contents. Move the cursor to the left edge of the screen to see your document's structure; click any heading to jump there. Pin it open with ⌘⇧T. • Real file save. ⌘S writes to a .md file on your disk you choose, and afterwards overwrites it silently — like a native app. • Autosave to your browser as a safety net, so closing the tab never loses your draft. • Markdown cheat sheet built in (⌘K). • Light and dark themes that respect your system preference. • Focus mode (⌘.) and fullscreen (⌘⇧F) for the deepest work. PRIVACY Ink does not collect, transmit, or analyze any data. Fonts and all code are bundled inside the extension — there are no external requests of any kind. Your words are yours.
