Overview
An endless, procedurally drawn ink landscape as your new tab. It follows your time of day, season and weather, and opens your links.
Every new tab opens on an endless landscape, drawn in ink on paper. Mountains, villages, lakes and forests, a castle on its hill, a windmill turning, a rider on the road. Scroll sideways and the world keeps going; it is drawn on the fly from a random seed, so no two tabs show the same place. Leave it alone and the view drifts slowly along the road. IT LIVES WITH YOUR DAY The sky follows your real time of day, with sunrise and sunset for where you are. At night the moon shows its true phase, windows light up, fireflies drift over the meadows and the rider carries a lantern. The season follows the date: snow and frozen lakes in winter, blossoms in spring, falling leaves in autumn. The weather is today's forecast for your place: rain, snow, wind and clouds roll in as they do outside. Drag the sun or the moon to change the time, or pick a city, a date or a time-lapse in the settings and watch a whole day pass in minutes. THERE ARE THINGS TO DO The rider stops at inns and the dog comes out to greet them. The dragon scares the birds. Click a signal fire on a mountain top and the beacons light up one after another along the range. YOUR LINKS, IN THE LANDSCAPE Give the things in the landscape an address, and they become your quick links. Let the inn open GitHub, the castle your mail, the dragon YouTube. Objects with a link turn red under the pointer and show their name on a ribbon; a click opens the site, Ctrl-click or middle click opens it in a new tab. The signpost by the road (or the L key) lists them all. Your links and most settings follow you to your other Chrome browsers through Chrome's sync. QUIET BY DESIGN No feeds, no news, no ads, no account. Nothing is tracked and nothing is sent to the developer. Your settings stay in your browser; the only permission the extension asks for is to store them. The weather comes from Open-Meteo, a free, open weather service, and can be switched off in the settings, after which the extension works entirely offline. It is plain JavaScript and SVG, light on the processor, and slows itself down on battery.
