Overview
Make password managers autofill work on the ING bank's website.
*Updated in 2024 to work on the new ING's website!* While masked password are not present on most of the websites nowadays, one can still find them, e.g., in the online banking industry. Notwithstanding the security aspects, masked passwords are certainly not compatible with password managers — most of which do not support the idea of including "manual patches" just to make some sites work with them. One of the most popular banks in Poland, ING, uses the masked password strategy in its retail portal. This extension aims to provide a simple solution for making password managers support autofill on the bank's login page, while staying transparent and requiring the minimal amount of permission. Speaking of transparency, the code of this extension is open-source and available for everyone to inspect here: https://github.com/xxczaki/ing-autofill. Advanced users who would prefer to install this utility manually can find instructions there as well. Feel free to suggest any improvements and report issues. Furthermore, although officially this extension currently only supports the Polish version of ING's login page (available at https://login.ingbank.pl/), it may also work on the other language variants of it.
