Image Clipboard — Paste, Capture, Edit, and Save Screenshots (All Offline) Image Clipboard is the fastest way to turn a screenshot or a copied image into a saved file. Take a screenshot with your usual shortcut, press Ctrl+V (or Cmd+V on a Mac), and your image appears instantly — ready to save, edit, or copy. No image editor, no online upload, no account. Everything happens locally in your browser, even with no internet connection. This release is a complete rebuild of the extension from the ground up, focused on reliability, speed, and finally delivering on the promise in the name. WHAT'S NEW IN THIS VERSION Rebuilt for modern Chrome (Manifest V3) The extension has been fully migrated to Manifest V3, so it installs, runs, and updates correctly on current versions of Chrome. Older builds relied on the deprecated Manifest V2 platform and could no longer run — this update brings the extension back to life and keeps it future-proof. One-click Save button You no longer have to hunt for a hidden right-click menu. A clear Save button downloads your image straight to your Downloads folder with a tidy, automatic timestamped filename (for example, screenshot-2026-07-21-141530.png). Saving a screenshot now takes a single click. Built-in tab capture Use the toolbar popup to capture the visible area of the current tab directly — no operating-system shortcut required. It is the quickest way to grab exactly what you are looking at and save or edit it immediately. Drag-and-drop and file picker Besides pasting, you can now drag an image file straight onto the page or choose one with the Browse button. This is especially handy on macOS, where screenshots are often saved as files rather than copied to the clipboard. Built-in image editor A lightweight editor lets you polish a screenshot before saving. Crop to the part that matters, draw arrows and rectangles to point things out, sketch freehand with the pen, and blur any region to redact sensitive information such as names, emails, or account numbers. Undo is always one click away. Clipboard history Your recent images are kept as thumbnails in a side panel. Click any of them to bring the image back into the preview so you can save, edit, or copy it again — no need to recapture. History is stored privately on your own device. Copy back to the clipboard A single button copies the current image back to your clipboard so you can paste it straight into chats, emails, documents, or design tools. Export options Save your image as PNG, JPEG, or WebP, and use the quality slider to shrink JPEG and WebP files when you want smaller sizes for sharing. Keyboard shortcut Press Ctrl+Shift+V (Command+Shift+V on Mac) to open the editor instantly and keep your paste-and-save flow fast. Right-click any image on the web A new context-menu entry lets you send any image you see on a page straight into Image Clipboard to save or edit it. Dark mode The interface now automatically follows your system light or dark theme, so it is comfortable to use day or night. A fully translated interface The extension already shipped in dozens of languages, but the on-screen text was previously English only. The interface is now localized, with careful platform-specific instructions for both Windows and macOS. BUGS AND ISSUES FIXED We audited the extension end to end and fixed a long list of problems: - Corrected the macOS instructions. The old guidance told Mac users the wrong shortcut and the wrong paste key, which left them staring at a blank page. Windows and macOS now each get accurate, clearly written steps. - Clarified the core instruction so it is obvious that pasting shows the image and the Save button stores it — a point that previously confused new users. - Fixed the layout. The page used a fixed width that forced horizontal scrolling on laptops and stretched every pasted image to a blurry fixed size. Images now scale cleanly to fit any screen. - Made pasting reliable. Pasting several images at once no longer produces a random result, and the paste handler no longer fires twice with inconsistent data. - Added clear feedback. If your clipboard has no image, the extension now tells you instead of doing nothing. - Removed third-party tracking pages that used to open on install and uninstall. The extension now simply opens its own app. - Removed unused and outdated code, including a large bundled library with known security issues, to make the extension lighter and safer. - Unified the branding and fixed the browser-tab title, along with assorted typos and small text errors. - Updated the "Rate us" link to the current Chrome Web Store address. PRIVACY AND PERMISSIONS Image Clipboard works entirely offline and keeps your images on your device. Nothing is uploaded to any server. The extension requests only the minimal permissions it needs to save files, capture the current tab when you ask it to, and remember your recent images locally.
