Overview

Hide the Gmail inbox by default. Check in for two minutes, then return to focus. Email stays in Gmail.

InboxVeil makes space to focus while keeping Gmail useful. Your inbox message list stays hidden by default. When you choose to look, click Show for 2 minutes. A visible countdown keeps the break brief, and the list hides again when the time runs out. You can hide it sooner at any time. WHAT THE FREE RELEASE DOES • Hides the inbox list on Gmail's standard inbox view. • Reveals it for up to two minutes after an explicit click. • Shares the countdown between tabs for the same Gmail account slot. • Preserves the deadline across a page refresh and checks it when the tab wakes. • Keeps composing, searching, and opening messages available. • Offers English and Simplified Chinese interface text. PRIVATE BY DESIGN InboxVeil checks page structure and route information to locate the inbox list. It does not read, store, or upload email bodies, sender details, or subject lines. It does not use the Gmail API. Display deadlines and interface preferences are stored in chrome.storage.local in your browser profile. The extension has no analytics, advertising scripts, remote code, or data server. WHY SITE ACCESS IS NEEDED The extension runs a packaged content script only on mail.google.com so it can change the visibility of the inbox list and display its focus controls. The only Chrome API permission is storage. Access does not extend to unrelated websites. CURRENT SCOPE This release is free. Paid functionality is disabled; the paid-features entry only displays a coming-soon message. No checkout or payment integration is included. Scheduling, focus locks, statistics, and Outlook support are not part of this release. Gmail can change its layout. If InboxVeil cannot identify a supported inbox list, it shows a compatibility message instead of claiming the list is hidden. It is a focus aid, not an email access blocker or a privacy screen.
