Inbox AI helps you communicate more quickly and clearly without leaving Gmail. Describe the message you want, dictate an instruction by voice, reply using the visible conversation or improve an existing draft. Inbox AI inserts the generated text into Gmail so you can review it before sending. Local setup compatibility The included automatic local-model installer currently supports Windows. Ollama and the Inbox AI local backend must be running on the computer while the extension is used. Personal tone Personal tone is optional. Inbox AI can learn from your own messages that are expanded in the current Gmail conversation and from future emails after you press Send. It removes quoted replies, Gmail signatures, email addresses, links and phone-number-like values before storing an example. Up to five examples are kept in Chrome local storage on your current device. With a Local model, examples stay on the computer. A separate opt-in is required before examples can be included in a request to an OpenAI model. You can disable learning or delete all examples at any time. Regional language Inbox AI contains a curated local language database for Portuguese (Portugal and Brazil), Simplified Chinese for mainland China, English (United States and United Kingdom), Spanish (Spain), French (France), German (Germany) and Japanese (Japan). Local expressions are used only when they fit the message. The feature is designed to preserve regional grammar and vocabulary without forcing slang or stereotypes. Files and pre-send control PDF, DOCX and TXT files are selected explicitly and parsed inside the extension. Extracted text stays in the current assistant session. A separate per-file consent is required before attachment text can be included in a request to an OpenAI model. Generated drafts are shown in Draft Studio rather than inserted immediately. Optional Send Guard shows possible issues and lets the user return to the draft or send anyway. Privacy and control Inbox AI processes content only after an action you choose. Generated text is never sent automatically; you remain responsible for reviewing and sending it. Local models process email content on your computer through Ollama. If you select an OpenAI model, the necessary prompt, visible context and authorised Personal tone examples are sent to OpenAI. The optional API key is held only in local-backend memory and is not stored by the extension. The extension does not use Gmail OAuth and does not scan your whole mailbox in the background. Smart replies and Send Guard are limited to the currently open, visible conversation.
