Impact Factor Finder is a research-support browser extension that adds publication insights directly to Google Scholar pages. The extension helps researchers, students, reviewers, and academic staff review Google Scholar profiles more efficiently by showing journal impact information, JCR quartiles, profile-level summaries, open access indicators, Top 2% dataset lookup results, author-position counts, self-citation estimates, and downloadable profile infographic reports in a compact on-page dashboard. Important usage note: For best results, open Google Scholar using the main domain: `https://scholar.google.com/`. The extension is designed and tested for `scholar.google.com` and may not work correctly on regional Google Scholar domains such as `.ca`, `.co.uk`, `.com.pk`, `.cn`, or other country-specific versions. Main features: • View journal impact values next to matched Google Scholar publications • See profile-level Total IF, matched IF paper count, and JCR quartile distribution • Show JCR quartile badges such as Q1, Q2, Q3, and Q4 beside matched publications • Review publisher / venue-family summaries from the Details panel • See author-position counts, including 1st position, 2nd position, and other-position papers • Scan loaded profile publications for open access availability when the user starts the scan • Check possible Top 2% dataset matches using visible profile name, affiliation, and verified email-domain evidence • Estimate top-10 self-citation links using public citation metadata from OpenAlex and OpenCitations • Download a Google Scholar profile infographic report with profile metrics, citation trend, IF insights, Top 2% insight, self-citation estimate, and JCR quartile summary • Use Ask IFF to summarize available open access paper information where supported • Report journal matching issues or bugs through the built-in feedback option Data and privacy: Core journal matching runs in the browser using a local journal dataset. JCR-based impact values, quartiles, publisher information, and related journal metadata are matched locally against loaded Google Scholar publication rows. Open access checks run only when the user starts the scan and may use publicly available metadata sources such as OpenAlex. Top 2% lookup uses a bundled local dataset and verifies matches using visible profile information. Self-citation estimates use public OpenAlex/OpenCitations metadata and are based on the top 10 cited loaded Google Scholar papers. Optional AI-assisted summaries may contact secure backend services only when the user starts those actions. The extension does not require a login for the core impact-factor dashboard. Important limitations: Displayed journal impact values, JCR quartiles, Top 2% lookup results, open access indicators, self-citation estimates, and infographic reports are provided for informational and research-support purposes only. Results depend on the loaded Google Scholar rows, visible author strings, journal-name matching, public metadata coverage, and available dataset records. Users should verify official journal metrics, indexing status, publication records, open access status, Top 2% dataset matches, and citation indicators from authorized sources before making academic, institutional, publishing, hiring, funding, or promotion decisions. Impact Factor Finder is an independent browser extension and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Google Scholar, Clarivate, Web of Science, Journal Citation Reports, Stanford University, Elsevier, OpenAlex, OpenCitations, or any official journal-metrics provider.
