Immigration Client Locator

Assists immigration lawyers in monitoring their client's status and location through the US Online Detainee Locator System.

The Immigration Client Locator is a tool developed by Human Rights Watch to assist immigration representatives and family members in monitoring the status of individuals detained by United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement or Customs and Border Patrol. This extension automates monitoring through the US Online Detainee Locator System (ODLS), a public website that provides information on the status and location of detained individuals. Specifically, this extension will: 1. Automatically check for updates and notify you when they occur. The ODLS does not provide users with notifications when a person is moved through facilities, released or deported. This information can only be obtained manually refreshing the site. To address this, the Immigration Locator Extension periodically searches in the background and notifies you when an individual’s status or location has changed. 2. Create an auditable history of detention: The ODLS only provides information about the current status or location of detainment. To address this, the Immigration Client Locator saves all facilities and statuses as they are updated within the ODLS, creating a history of detainment. To support this information, the extension takes screenshots and archives the ODLS pages which display this information.
