Overview

Learn Japanese while you watch: highlights new JLPT words in Netflix or custom subtitles and saves them as Anki flashcards.

Learn Japanese vocabulary while you watch. Immersive Memorize highlights one new JLPT word at a time in the subtitles of what you're watching. Press a key to save it as a flashcard with the sentence it appeared in, its reading, an English definition and, if you like, a screenshot of the scene. When you're ready, export your cards to Anki. WATCH ANYTHING • Netflix: works with Netflix's Japanese subtitles out of the box. • Any other video: load your own SRT, VTT, ASS or SSA subtitle file (UTF-8, UTF-16 or Shift_JIS) for any video on any site, then adjust its size, position, background and timing. LEARN ONE WORD AT A TIME • Choose the JLPT levels you want to learn, from N5 to N1 (about 14,600 words). • Only the first word you haven't saved yet is highlighted, so the subtitles stay readable. • Press S (or a key of your choice) to save it, and the next word lights up. FLASHCARDS WITH CONTEXT • Each card keeps the sentence with its furigana, the reading, the definition, the timestamp and the show and episode. • Optional screenshots, cropped to the video. • Search and sort your cards, and preview their screenshots. READY FOR ANKI • CSV export with Anki's file headers, furigana in Anki's 漢字[かんじ] format, the saved word in bold and screenshots embedded. • Plain-text and HTML formats for other apps. PRIVATE BY DESIGN • Your cards and screenshots stay in your browser; settings sync through your Chrome profile. • Nothing is sent to any other server, and there are no accounts, ads or tracking. • Back up your cards to a file and restore them anywhere. The interface is available in English and Simplified Chinese.
