Pause your history, clear it on startup or on a timer

chrissi's History Cleaner is a lightweight extension for people who don't want their browsing history to pile up. It can pause your history. While that's on, every new visit gets deleted right after Chromium saves it. Older history stays as it is. It can also clear data for you: when the browser starts, every 2, 4 or 8 hours while it's open, or whenever you click the button. In the settings you pick what gets cleared: browsing history, cookies and other site data, cached images and files, download history and autofill form data. Saved passwords are never touched. Cookies and site data are off by default because clearing them logs you out almost everywhere. Nothing leaves your browser. There is no tracking, no analytics, no account and no network request. Your settings are saved locally and never synced. The source code is public on GitHub. A few limits: Chromium doesn't let extensions stop history from being written, so pausing works by deleting each visit afterwards. Extensions can't tell when the browser closes, so "clear on startup" runs the next time it opens. Tabs restored from your last session show up in your history again after that. If sync is on, deleted history can also disappear from your other synced devices.
