Study Plan Checker – Exam Extractor

Reads the exam list from a student's plan on the Polimi study-plan page and opens it in the Study Plan Checker.

# What this extension does Faculty and students reviewing study plans on Polimi's internal pages currently have to read the exam list off the page and check manually against Polimi's rules. This extension removes this manual step. While viewing a student's plan, click the extension's toolbar icon. It reads the exam codes directly from the study plan table on the page you're already looking at, automatically excluding type-S rows (Posins = S, credits that don't count toward the degree) while keeping every other row regardless of its status. It then shows you how many exams were found and how many were excluded, so you can catch a scraping problem before acting on it, rather than trusting a silent result. Clicking "Open in checker" opens the Study Plan Checker (https://bestagini.github.io/study_plan_checker) with those exam codes already filled in. From there you pick the student's programme, cohort year and track, and the checker validates the plan against that programme's actual rules: total credits, type-B/type-C credit thresholds (including cases where a course can count as either, depending on how it's framed), required courses, incompatible course combinations, and more. # Why install it - Saves time on every plan you review. No more manually transcribing exam codes from the page into another tool. One click does it. - Reduces transcription errors. Manually copying six-digit codes across systems is exactly the kind of repetitive task where mistakes creep in. This reads them directly from the source. - Catches problems before they reach the Study Plan Committee. The Study Plan Checker flags missing credits, threshold violations, and incompatible course choices immediately, rather than after a plan has already been submitted for formal approval. - Nothing leaves your browser except what you choose to check. The extension only activates when you click its icon, only reads the page you're currently viewing (no standing access to any site), and doesn't collect, store, or transmit any personal data. The only thing that leaves the page is the list of exam codes, passed to the Study Plan Checker so it can display the result. # What this extension is not This is an independently built, unofficial tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or a product of Politecnico di Milano, and it does not replace the official approval process. The Study Plan Committee remains responsible for actually approving plans. It exists purely as a self-service aid to catch mistakes earlier.
