Image Downloader

Overview
Find every image on a page, group duplicate sizes, and download the highest-quality original.
WHAT’S NEW IN 2.0 Version 2 is a complete rebuild. The right-click menu is still available, but the main interface is now a side panel that opens beside the page you’re viewing. By default, Image Downloader reads a page only after you click its toolbar icon. If you want the panel to continue working automatically as you switch tabs or follow links, you can optionally grant broader site access from inside the panel. Image Downloader finds images on a page, groups different versions of the same image together, and helps you download the highest-quality version available. Instead of showing every thumbnail and resized copy as a separate result, it identifies related versions and presents the best available image. HOW IT WORKS Click the toolbar icon and the side panel opens beside the current page. The page is scanned automatically, and detected images appear in a thumbnail grid with their dimensions, format, and file size. As a page loads more content, the panel can update with newly detected images. A manual Rescan option is also available. If a page provides the same picture at several resolutions, Image Downloader groups those versions into one result and identifies the largest available version. WHAT IT FINDS Image Downloader can detect standard page images, responsive images, lazy-loaded images, CSS background images, inline graphics, full-size images linked from thumbnails, social preview images, and images added dynamically after the page loads. FEATURES Automatic duplicate grouping and best-version detection Live image grid with manual Rescan Search by filename, URL, domain, or alt text Filter by dimensions, format, orientation, and type Sort by dimensions, file size, or page order Multi-select, Select All, Invert Selection, and Shift-click ranges Pick Mode for selecting images directly on the page Right-click actions for downloading images and choosing the best available version Optional local image conversion Optional ZIP downloads for batches of images Smart filenames generated from alt text and page context File extensions matched to the image’s actual contents Tracking pixels, spacers, and very small icons hidden by default Light and dark mode Image conversion and ZIP creation happen locally in your browser. PERMISSIONS, IN PLAIN ENGLISH Image Downloader requests no access to your websites when you install it. By default, it uses Chrome’s temporary page-access permission, which allows it to read the current page only after you click the extension’s toolbar icon. That temporary access can end when you navigate away or switch tabs. If you want the side panel to continue working automatically while you browse, you can choose “Scan every page automatically.” This grants broader site access. That permission is used to: Keep the side panel working while you switch tabs and follow links. Read image data when you choose to convert images or package a batch into a ZIP. Verify an image’s actual file type so downloaded files use the correct extension. Granting this permission is optional. Without it, you can still open Image Downloader manually on a page and use its core scanning and downloading features. There is no background scanning of unrelated websites. You can revoke site access at any time from Chrome’s extension permissions. PRIVACY Everything happens inside your browser. There is no account, sign-in, analytics, tracking, external server processing, or remote code. Page URLs, image URLs, and image data are not transmitted to an external service. Image conversion and ZIP packaging are performed locally in your browser.
