This release is a ground-up rebuild. We rewrote the recording engine, hardened your data, closed security gaps, and added the features people kept asking for. Here is what is new. RELIABLE RECORDING THAT NEVER DISAPPEARS Recording now runs in a dedicated background document, so it keeps going even if you click away, switch tabs, or the popup closes mid-sentence. The old version could lose an entire clip the moment you looked away — that problem is gone. We also replaced the outdated capture method with the modern, fully supported microphone API, so recording starts instantly on today's Chrome. YOUR AUDIO, STORED SAFELY Recordings are now saved as compact, high-quality compressed audio in a proper on-device database, instead of bloated uncompressed files that quickly filled up your storage. With unlimited local storage enabled, you can keep far more audio, for far longer, without clips silently vanishing the moment a quota is reached. NO MORE SILENT DATA LOSS Every save is verified. If a write ever fails, you see a clear message instead of a false "saved." Text notes are now stored individually, so a single long note can never push you past a hidden limit and quietly drop your older notes. Your content is safe, and you always know its true state. A SEARCHABLE, ORGANIZED LIBRARY Find any note in seconds with the new search box. Rename notes and recordings, copy text to your clipboard in one click, and download any recording as an audio file to keep or send to someone else. Your newest items always appear first, so whatever you just captured is right at the top. BUILT-IN RECORDING CONTROLS While recording, you get a live timer and a microphone level meter, so you can see at a glance that it is actually working. Pause and resume whenever you like, and if a take does not come out right, simply re-record it before saving — no half-finished clips left cluttering your list. OPTIONAL AUTOMATIC TRANSCRIPTION Turn on transcription and Voice Notes will write down what you say as you record, making your clips searchable and easy to label. It is off by default and entirely under your control, with a clear, up-front explanation of exactly how it works and what it does. BACK UP AND MOVE YOUR DATA Export all your notes and recordings to a single backup file, and import them again any time — on the same computer or a brand-new one. You are never locked in, and you always have a safety net for the things that matter. SAFER BY DESIGN Destructive actions now ask before they act: deleting a note or clearing everything takes a confirmation, so a single misclick can no longer wipe out your work. We also eliminated a security weakness in how notes were displayed and tightened the extension's security policy, so your notes always stay your notes. PRIVATE AND LOCAL-FIRST Your notes and recordings live on your device. Nothing is uploaded to run the core features, there are no accounts to create, and audio only ever leaves your machine if you explicitly turn on transcription.
