Overview

Jump between web pages with keyboard commands.

Hopbar is a URL command bar for Chrome that brings bookmarks, site-aware shortcuts, and URL tools to your keyboard. Open Hopbar, type a keyword or command, and jump to the page you need. It's useful for repeated navigation in SaaS dashboards, admin panels, internal tools, customer portals, and project trackers. SHORTCUTS THAT FOLLOW THE CURRENT PAGE Fixed bookmarks save one URL. Hopbar's site shortcuts can reuse a customer, project, repository, or ticket from the page you're viewing. For example, you're on: https://app.example.com/customers/acme/overview Configure a customer variable and a “billing” shortcut with this target: /customers/{customer}/billing Type “billing” to open: https://app.example.com/customers/acme/billing Move to another customer's overview and use the same shortcut to open that customer's billing page. You define the URL patterns, variables, and actions in settings. THREE WAYS TO NAVIGATE • Global bookmarks: assign short keywords to fixed links and open them from supported web pages. • Site shortcuts: extract values from the current URL and reuse them in target URL templates. • Commands with arguments: configure commands such as “:ticket 1042” to open a specific page using a value you type. BUILT-IN TOOLS • Copy the current URL, remove common tracking parameters, or copy a Markdown link. • Add, change, remove, or toggle query parameters from the command bar. • Use :screenshot to capture the visible area and copy it to the clipboard where image clipboard access is available. KEYBOARD CONTROLS Open Hopbar with Cmd+Shift+K on Mac or Ctrl+Shift+K on Windows and Linux. Change this shortcut in Chrome's extension shortcut settings. • Enter: open in the current tab. • Cmd/Ctrl+Enter: open in a new tab. • Alt+Enter: open in a background tab. • Shift+Enter: copy the target URL. SET UP YOUR WORKFLOW Manage bookmarks, rules, variables, and commands in a visual settings page. Test rules against sample URLs and import or export configurations as JSON. Choose a light, dark, or system theme. The interface supports English, Japanese, and Simplified Chinese. PRIVACY AND PERMISSIONS No Hopbar account is required. Hopbar uses storage, activeTab, and scripting permissions. The command bar loads on the active page when you invoke it; it does not request permanent access to all websites or <all_urls> host permission. Bookmarks, rules, and settings are saved locally. Hopbar also attempts Chrome sync, subject to browser settings and storage limits. Recent usage and cached variable values stay on this device. Hopbar does not upload your rules or usage records to a Hopbar server. Hopbar cannot run on restricted pages such as chrome:// and the Chrome Web Store. Destination websites still require your usual sign-in and access permissions.
