Overview
Transform selected text or your clipboard with ClipMate Smart Paste.
Keep useful text in Notes and rewrite, summarize, translate, or transform it with Smart Paste without leaving Chrome. Open the shared ClipMate app from the toolbar or Alt+V. It includes the same Notes, saved Prompts, Settings, current-source preview, and Smart Paste controls as ClipMate desktop, in a native popup or side panel. Choose the display mode in the System section of Settings using the “Open in side panel” checkbox. ClipMate uses selected text from the active page when available and falls back to your current clipboard when nothing is selected. The browser may not expose selections inside arbitrary cross-origin child frames, so those selections use the same clipboard fallback. The preview shows the resolved text that will be used, but does not label whether it came from the selection or clipboard. Sign in with Google or Apple, enter an instruction, and submit when you are ready. For that Smart Paste request, ClipMate sends the displayed source text, your prompt, interface language, and authentication token to its completion service. Successful prompts submitted in the app copy their generated output automatically. Saved prompts also appear in the page context menu: each prompt copies its generated result to your clipboard, restores the invoked accessible editable field, and pastes it there. Smart Paste reports an unavailable-frame error for an editable field inside an inaccessible cross-origin child frame. Notes, saved prompts, and settings are kept in local extension storage so they survive closing the popup or side panel. When you are signed in, Notes and saved prompts synchronize through Supabase across ClipMate hosts; settings stay local. Your current selection or clipboard is ephemeral and is never added to Notes or cloud sync automatically. Privacy by design: • Selection or clipboard access follows an explicit user invocation. • Source text and prompt are sent to ClipMate only when the user submits in the app or invokes a saved-prompt context-menu action. • Pending invocation metadata uses temporary browser session storage; unfinished prompt drafts are not persisted. • Deliberate Notes, saved prompts, settings, and the authentication session use local extension storage. • Signed-in Supabase sync includes Notes and saved prompts, but not settings or the ephemeral current clipboard. • No analytics, ads, or tracking. • No persistent access to every website. • No broad website permissions; arbitrary cross-origin child frames are outside the temporary activeTab boundary.
