# Chrome Web Store listing ## Name Retomi Tab Groups ## Short description (max 132 characters) Automatically groups your tabs by project and topic with AI (Claude, ChatGPT or a local model like Ollama). Learns from your moves. ## Category Productivity → Tools (Workflow & Planning) ## Language English ## Detailed description Too many open tabs? Retomi Tab Groups organizes them into Chrome tab groups by project, service or topic, using your own AI account (Anthropic Claude or OpenAI ChatGPT) or a free model running on your computer (Ollama, LM Studio and other OpenAI-compatible servers). WHAT IT DOES • Every new tab automatically lands in the right group, or in a new one with a clear, specific name • Groups by project, not just by site: your customer's website, CRM and database admin can live in one group • Groups you arrange by hand are never reshuffled: new related tabs are simply added to them • Tabs opened from a grouped tab stay in that group • Learns from you: move a tab into a group and the AI follows your example for similar pages • Group colors are distinct and stay stable over time • Click the icon to group the tabs that are not in a group yet; right-click it to regroup all tabs • Manual mode: turn automatic grouping off and tabs are grouped only when you click the icon • Colored or monochrome icon, for light and dark themes • Group names follow your browser's language WHAT YOU NEED Your own API key from Anthropic (console.anthropic.com) or OpenAI (platform.openai.com). API usage costs are paid by the user; you pick the model from a list, and the defaults (Claude Haiku 5.5, GPT-6 Luna) cost a fraction of a cent per grouping. Note: a ChatGPT subscription does not include API access. Or, for free: a local model with Ollama (or any OpenAI-compatible server). In the settings choose "Local / Custom", enter http://localhost:11434/v1 and the model name (e.g. gemma4:12b). Ollama blocks browser extensions by default, so allow them once: • macOS (Ollama app): run launchctl setenv OLLAMA_ORIGINS "chrome-extension://*" in Terminal, then restart Ollama • From the command line: OLLAMA_ORIGINS="chrome-extension://*" ollama serve PRIVACY Only tab titles and addresses are sent, directly from your browser to the AI provider or local server you chose. No middleman server, no tracking. Page content is never read. The extension is free. If you find it useful, you can buy me a coffee from the settings page. ## Single purpose Automatically organize browser tabs into tab groups based on their topic. ## Permission justifications - **tabs**: read tab titles and URLs to classify them and move them into groups. - **tabGroups**: create, name and color tab groups, and read their names to reuse them. - **storage**: store the API key, preferences, group colors and learned rules locally. - **contextMenus**: items in the icon's menu to group ungrouped tabs, regroup all tabs and turn automatic grouping on/off. - **offscreen**: briefly read whether Chrome is in light or dark mode (matchMedia) to adapt the monochrome icon; the page is closed right away. - **Hosts api.anthropic.com and api.openai.com**: send tab titles and URLs to the AI provider selected by the user (Claude or ChatGPT) to get the classification. Only the selected provider is contacted. - **Optional hosts (http://*/*, https://*/*)**: requested at runtime only for the single server address the user types for the "Local / Custom" provider (e.g. a local Ollama at localhost), so tab titles and URLs can be sent to it. Never requested otherwise. ## Remote code No, the extension does not use remote code: all JavaScript is included in the package. ## Data usage (Privacy tab in the dashboard) Data to declare: - **Web history** (titles and URLs of open tabs) – sent to the AI provider selected by the user (Anthropic, OpenAI or the user's own server) for the core feature. - **Authentication information** (API key) – stored only locally, sent only to the selected provider as a credential. Certifications to check: - I do not sell or transfer user data to third parties, outside of the approved use cases - I do not use or transfer user data for purposes that are unrelated to my item's single purpose - I do not use or transfer user data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes ## Privacy policy URL https://gist.github.com/retomi/2e2c50ce4b5f75d91b932aa30d7cab34
