Privacy-aware classroom monitoring for managed Chromebooks. Displays active tab information to teachers with transparent disclosure.

ClassPilot is a classroom monitoring and student-guidance extension for school-managed Chromebooks. During school-authorized classroom sessions, teachers can view active tabs and open websites, guide student browsing, communicate with students, and use observation-bound screenshots or temporary Live View. Live View uses a temporary encrypted WebRTC stream that may be relayed through SchoolPilot TURN servers. The extension and SchoolPilot servers do not record the Live View stream. An authorized teacher may explicitly save a local still image subject to the school’s policies. To provide these classroom functions, SchoolPilot processes school-issued identifiers, device and session status, active-tab titles, URLs and timestamps, screenshots, website content visible in screenshots or Live View, and student-teacher communications. During an explicit managed-kiosk launch, and only after an authenticated capability check, the extension may send Chrome’s managed directory device identifier to SchoolPilot. SchoolPilot immediately converts it into a school-scoped opaque identifier. The raw identifier is not stored, logged, returned, or placed in a URL.
