Setu for NetSuite
Overview
The bridge between developers and NetSuite: record inspector, SuiteQL, logs, record trail and more, with production safeguards.
Setu (सेतु) for NetSuite is the bridge between developers and NetSuite: 124 tools in one Chrome extension for the developers, administrators and consultants who build and run NetSuite every day. It works inside NetSuite, in your browser, with your own signed-in session and your role's permissions. Nothing is installed in your NetSuite accounts: no scripts, bundles, SDF objects or custom records. WHY SETU NetSuite gives you everything, but everyday developer work takes many clicks: finding a script, reading a record's real values, following an order to its invoices, checking logs while you test, or comparing sandbox with production. Setu puts each of these one key away, on the page you are already on. The name means "bridge", after Ram Setu, built stone by stone; every tool is one stone. HIGHLIGHTS • Find anything: press Ctrl+K (⌘K on a Mac) for records by number or name, scripts, fields, pages and tools • Help for this screen (Alt+H): only what works on the page you are on, with the key for each • Record inspector (Alt+I): every field and sublist of a record as searchable JSON • Execution logs (Alt+L): logs of the scripts on a record, live while you test • Record trail (Alt+T): a transaction's orders, fulfilments, invoices, payments and returns in one view • SuiteQL (Alt+Q): write, run, save and export queries, with autocomplete and a schema browser • Field card (Alt+click a label): a field's ID, type, value and history • Watch scripts: a notification when a Map/Reduce or scheduled script finishes or fails • Compare sandbox and production side by side • Change preview: see and choose your changes before saving a script file WHERE SETU APPEARS A slim tab on the right edge of NetSuite pages opens a small column: Find anything, Help, This record, This page, and counts for notifications and running scripts. Pin it open, or hide Setu on a page with Alt+Shift+H. NetSuite's own look stays the same. SAFE BY DESIGN • Nothing installed in NetSuite: Setu only works in your browser • Production is protected: tools that change data are locked in production until you type PRD on that page • Administrators only: the 14 tools that change NetSuite work only for the Administrator role; other roles see them locked • NetSuite looks the same: the 17 tools that restyle NetSuite are marked and stay off until you choose them • Everything that changes data asks first; your NetSuite role decides what Setu can see • Every tool has its own switch, and only switched-on tools run PRIVACY Setu has no server and no tracking. Your settings, pins, recent records, saved queries and keys stay in Chrome on your computer. Data leaves your computer only if you turn on Chrome sync (your Google account) or connect GitHub (your own repository). Setu does not keep your name or your company's name. REQUIREMENTS Google Chrome and a NetSuite account (*.app.netsuite.com). Setu works on NetSuite's Classic pages and the Redwood theme. It does nothing on other websites. GETTING STARTED Install Setu and reload your NetSuite tabs. A short setup wizard suggests a starting set of tools; change anything later from the Setu icon. Press ? on any NetSuite page for every key, or Alt+H to see what works on that page. FEEDBACK Found a problem or have an idea? Use the Support tab on this page. In Setu, Check Setu on this page (from Ctrl+K) makes a report of the page's structure, without record data, that helps fix issues. NetSuite is a trademark of Oracle.
