IG Video Controls

Slim video controls for Instagram: play/pause, volume, speed, loop, download, arrow-key seek — on feed, reels, story & profile.

IG Video Controls adds a slim video control bar to every video on Instagram — feed, reels, stories, and profile pages. It sits at the bottom edge of the video, similar to native players like YouTube, so it never blocks the content itself. Features: - Play/Pause - Volume slider that appears when you hover the speaker icon - Seekable progress bar with current time / total duration - Playback speed picker (0.25x–2x, with quick presets) - Loop toggle - Download the video you are watching - Hide/show toggle to dismiss the bar down to a small icon, remembered across videos - Arrow-key seek: hover a video and press → / ← to skip forward or back - The bar automatically fades out when not in use, and reappears on hover or tap No account, sign-up, or data collection required — everything runs locally in your browser. CHANGELOG ## v1.7.3 New: fullscreen button. The video fills the screen — and shows the whole frame, not the cropped version you see in the feed. Loop button fixed. It kept losing to Instagram's own looping, so turning it off did nothing. It holds now, and starts switched on for videos Instagram already loops. Speed picker. Stays over the video, and closes when you move away from it. ## 1.6.1 — 2026-09-03 ### Fixed - Opening a post from the feed no longer leaves another video's control bar showing over it. The rest of the feed stays loaded behind the enlarged post, and moving the mouse over the top of the video could bring up the bar belonging to one of the videos hidden behind it. The 1.5.9 fix only covered pop-up views the page marks as a dialog; this covers any full-screen view that opens over the feed. ## 1.6.0 — 2026-09-02 ### Added - Arrow-key seeking: with the pointer over a video, press the right or left arrow key to jump forward or back ### Changed - More breathing room between the volume icon and the time display — the muted speaker icon in particular used to sit almost flush against it. ## 1.5.9 — 2026-08-31 ### Fixed - The controls from the video behind no longer show through when you open a post's comments. The video stays loaded in the background while the comment view is open, and its control bar was still being drawn on top of everything else. The same fix covers other pop-up views that open over the feed. ## 1.5.8 — 2026-08-31 ### Added - The progress bar now shows how far you've watched — the part you've already seen is filled in white, so you can tell your position at a glance instead of hunting for the round handle. ### Fixed - The control bar no longer stays on screen after you click through to another page. It used to hang around for a couple of seconds, floating over whatever you opened next. - The small round handle on the progress and volume sliders now sits properly centred on its line, instead of slightly too high. - On Firefox, the volume slider now shows how loud it's set, the same way it already did on Chrome.
