IEP Writing Companion

IEP Writing Companion is a teacher-support tool designed to assist qualified special education educators as they prepare draft Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). The extension works alongside IEP Direct. After the educator opens an IEP, the tool can review the available document sections and organize relevant student information. Educators can add current observations, assessment information, progress data, parent concerns, strengths, needs, and other notes. The tool can then prepare editable drafts for: • Overall Academic Performance • Reading • Writing • Mathematics • Academic, developmental, and functional needs • Student strengths, preferences, and interests • Social development • Physical development • Management needs • Measurable annual goal candidates, including reading, writing, mathematics, communication, motor, daily living, behavioral, social-emotional, executive-functioning, and other supported areas Teachers remain responsible for reviewing, correcting, and approving every draft before adding it to an IEP. The tool does not make eligibility, classification, placement, service, or clinical decisions and does not replace the IEP team. A teacher account, internet connection, and school or district authorization are required. Student information is transmitted only when the educator requests generation.
