Rat Jar is a cookie switcher and session manager for people who juggle several accounts on the same websites. Save the cookies of each login in an encrypted stash, then switch between your accounts in one click, on every site at once or tab by tab. No more logging out and back in, no second browser profile, and nothing ever leaves your computer. WHO IT IS FOR - Social media managers and community teams running several accounts on the same platforms - Developers and QA testers who log in as different users all day - Freelancers and agencies with one client login per project - Families or roommates who share one computer - Anyone with a work account and a personal account on the same websites WHAT YOU CAN DO - Multi-account switching in one click: a stash holds the login of one account per site. Click the stash and every site in it switches at once. - Group logins by persona: "Work" holds your work logins, "Home" holds the personal ones. Each stash is a complete cookie profile. - One stash per tab: give each tab its own account. The rat follows you from tab to tab, so two tabs of the same site can show two different accounts. - Stash any website: Rat Jar asks for cookie access per site, only at the moment you stash it. - Rotated tokens kept: the live stash mirrors your real logins, so a site that renews its session does not log you out next time. - Log out of one site in a click ("eat the cookies") without losing the saved login. - Rename, reorder (drag and drop or keyboard) and delete stashes. SECURITY AND PRIVACY: BUILT SO NOBODY CAN STEAL YOUR COOKIES - 100% local. No server, no account, no sync, no analytics, no network requests at all. Your cookies never leave your computer. - Encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM. The key is derived from your passphrase with PBKDF2-SHA256 (600,000 iterations, random salt). Without the passphrase the vault is unreadable, and so is every backup file. - Your passphrase is never stored. Forget it and nobody can recover your stashes, not even us. That is the point. - No content scripts: Rat Jar never injects code into web pages and never reads what you type or browse. - No remote code, no third-party libraries, strict Content Security Policy. - Minimal permissions: cookie access is requested per site when you stash it, never for all websites at install. - Background tab protection: in one stash per tab mode, a background tab whose account is not live is cut off from the stashed sites, so it can never send a request as the wrong account. - Nothing hidden: the privacy policy is public at https://github.com/antonylgs/rat-jar-privacy-policy/blob/main/PRIVACY.md HOW IT WORKS 1. Install, pick a passphrase, dig the burrow. 2. Log in to a site, open Rat Jar and click "Stash <site> in Work". 3. Create a second stash, log in with the other account, stash the site there too. 4. Click a stash to switch. The tab reloads with the other account. GOOD TO KNOW - A site is its registrable domain, so all its subdomains switch together. - Sites in the old stash but not in the new one are logged out when you switch. - Chrome keeps one cookie jar. In one stash per tab mode only the tab in front holds the cookies of its stash; a background tab on another stash is paused and reloads the moment you come back to it.
