Quietline for Google Meet
Overview
Record Google Meet live captions into speaker-attributed transcripts stored locally. Copy, download or delete them anytime.
Quietline turns Google Meet's built-in live captions into a clean, speaker-attributed transcript — saved on your computer, never sent anywhere. WHAT IT DOES • Adds a "Record captions" button next to Meet's control bar. • One click starts recording: the extension turns Meet's captions on for you and (optionally) hides the captions panel, so the video keeps the whole screen and nobody is distracted by scrolling text. • Each line is saved as "Speaker: text". Growing fragments of the same phrase are merged, so the transcript reads like a conversation, not a log. • Press Stop — the transcript is saved. Captions the extension turned on are turned off again, and the panel comes back. YOUR TRANSCRIPTS Click the extension icon to open a full-page list of every saved transcript: • read the text right in the list; • copy it to the clipboard; • download it as .txt or as Markdown (.md) with the meeting name, date and code; • delete one transcript or all of them. PRIVATE BY DESIGN • No account, no sign-in, no servers. The extension makes no network requests at all — no analytics, no telemetry. • Transcripts are stored only in your browser (chrome.storage.local) and stay there until you delete them or remove the extension. • It reads the page only while you are recording, and only on meet.google.com. GOOD TO KNOW • Transcript quality equals Google Meet's own speech recognition; the caption language is the one selected in Meet. • The transcript is kept in the page until you press Stop — closing the Meet tab mid-recording loses the unsaved part. • Recording uses captions everyone in the call can turn on for themselves; it does not record audio or video. Respect your organization's rules and let participants know when you keep notes of a meeting. PERMISSIONS, IN PLAIN WORDS • storage — keeps your transcripts and one setting (hide the captions panel), locally. • Access to meet.google.com — to add the button, turn captions on and read them while you record. No access to any other site. Interface: English, Русский, 日本語. Quietline is an independent project and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Google. Google Meet is a trademark of Google LLC.
