Click it and the decode opens in Chrome's side panel, beside the listing. FREE DECODE Year, make, model, trim, engine, drive, fuel, body, where it was built, and the open safety recalls for that model, from NHTSA's public data. Recalls that tell owners to park outside are listed first. CATCHES TYPOS Type or paste any VIN. An O or I becomes 0 or 1 as you type. If the check digit doesn't match, the extension suggests a fix only when the corrected VIN decodes cleanly.
