Subtwin — Dual Subtitles
Overview
Original and translated YouTube captions together.
Subtwin shows two subtitle lines on YouTube: the original words and a translation in your language, together, right in the player. Turn it on once. Every video with captions just works, including auto-generated captions. WHY SUBTWIN • Readable: subtitles are rebuilt into short, complete phrases, so you can read each line before it disappears, even on auto-generated captions. • Best translation available: when a video has human-made subtitles in your language, Subtwin uses them. Otherwise it uses YouTube translation or, in Chrome, on-device AI translation. • Private: on-device AI translation runs in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, no account, no tracking. • Stays out of the way: a small, clean caption card at the bottom of the video. Videos that already show subtitles in your language are detected, and Subtwin steps aside. BUILT FOR LANGUAGE LEARNERS • Alt+A / Alt+D: previous / next sentence • Alt+R: replay the current sentence • Alt+P: pause after every sentence • Alt+S: turn Subtwin on or off for this video • Show the translation first or second, pick size, style and color WORKS WITH Regular videos, auto-generated captions, auto-dubbed videos (the original language is detected), full screen and theater mode. Live streams are not supported yet. HOW TO USE 1. Open any YouTube video with captions. Two lines appear. 2. The Subtwin button in the player bar opens settings. 3. The toolbar icon sets your translation language. Questions or ideas: use the support tab. We read everything.
