NookSpeak is an Animalese text reader for Chrome. Select text on a webpage to hear playful, game-inspired character sounds while an animated dialogue bubble types the words on screen. Use the right-click menu or a configurable keyboard shortcut to turn selected web text into an Animal Crossing-style dialogue. Unlike conventional text-to-speech, NookSpeak creates expressive Animalese-style sounds rather than spoken narration. Right-click and choose “Read with NookSpeak,” or press your configured shortcut. Click the dialogue bubble to start the audio and typing animation. COMPATIBILITY NookSpeak works on standard HTTP and HTTPS webpages. Chrome does not allow extensions to run on protected pages such as chrome:// pages or the Chrome Web Store; the settings popup explains when a page is protected. PRIVACY NookSpeak does not collect analytics, browsing history, or selected text. Selected text is processed inside the extension, and preferences are saved with Chrome Sync.
