Overview

Hide images and videos on the sites you choose. Toggle per site from the toolbar, or right-click to reveal a single item.

Hide every image and video, or only the ones on sites you pick. NoMedia gives you a photo-free and video-free web, with a simple fix when you want one page, one site, or one picture. Turn it on or off: • Pin the icon and click it to switch the current site. • Or press Alt+Shift+M. • Use the switch at the top to pause NoMedia everywhere. Where media is hidden: • Everywhere except sites you allow. This is the default. • Only on sites you block. Every other site stays normal. Your site lists: • Each site can hide photos, videos, or both. • A site includes its subdomains. example.com includes www.example.com and m.example.com. • A more specific site wins over its parent. • The toolbar switch hides or shows both photos and videos. Finer choices are in Settings. What can disappear: • Images, including photos, GIFs, and image buttons. • Background images, such as banners and thumbnails. • Videos, including embedded players. Hidden videos are paused and muted. • Drawn logos and illustrations, such as the picture above the Google search box, including holiday doodles. • Button and menu icons up to 48 pixels stay visible, so the page is still usable. What hidden media looks like: • A plain placeholder that keeps the page layout. • A heavy blur that keeps a hint of color. • Removed from the page. This is only in strict mode, because a removed item cannot be right-clicked. Click to reveal: • Right-click a hidden picture or video and choose "Show this image / video". Or choose to have certain images/videos allowed or blocked permanently. • Or show every image and video on the current page until you reload. Strict: • "Show this image / video" is not offered. • You can still turn on/off filtering the whole site from the toolbar/settings. One image or video, from the right-click menu: • Block only that item, or unblock it, until you reload. • Block it permanently, so that file does not load on later visits. • Allow it permanently, so it shows every time, even when that type is hidden. • Clear a permanent choice and return to the normal site rule. • These choices work whether photos are showing, videos are showing, or both are hidden. More choices: • Keep small images visible, such as emoji and tiny logos, at a size you set. Off until you turn it on. • Stop hidden images and videos from downloading, to save data. On by default in strict mode. In regular mode it stays off until you turn it on, including for one site from the toolbar menu. Streaming players may still download video, and media in frames from other sites may still download. • Choose whether a click on the toolbar icon opens the menu or switches the site immediately. • Right-click the icon for the other actions. • Save your settings, site lists, and permanent per-picture choices to a file, then restore that file on another computer. Privacy: • The interface follows your Chrome language. • Lists and settings stay in Chrome. • With Chrome Sync, they follow you to your other computers. • NoMedia has no account and no server. • It does not send the pages you visit anywhere. Incognito and local files: • Both work after you allow them on the extension's details page.
