The coal is black, the air is still, and the warmth is fleeting. Your existence is reduced to a single, relentless objective: keep the fire going. Welcome to I Am Cold: Fire Keeper, a minimalist, atmospheric idle clicker and resource management game. Built as a lightweight Chrome extension, this is a distraction for the weary, a simple chore for the eternally cold. You are the Keeper, and your station is the dwindling flame. The world outside is irrelevant. There are no seasons, no enemies, and no triumphs—only decay. The heat you generate is constantly slipping away, subject to a decay rate that is both necessary and inevitable. Your core task is to counter this entropic drain. The Core Loop: Shovel. Burn. Repeat. The main action is the shovel. Click the prominent SHOVEL COAL button. This singular act yields two resources: a small amount of raw coal, which serves as currency, and a larger burst of heat, which is your lifeline. The base heat gain is minimal, often just 8 units, supplemented by a slight, random variance, enough to sustain a flicker. You are tethered to this action. Watch the digital thermometer. It displays your current Heat in sterile, unchanging numbers. Start at a meager 10°. If the heat drops to zero, you have failed. The visuals reflect your performance: a small, weak, flickering flame means you are merely "Warm," but if it falls low, the system will remind you: "Fading..." or "Fading fast...". The background remains a perpetual, low-contrast void. The Economy of Coal Coal is gained by shoveling. This currency is used to secure upgrades. The shop is small, reflecting the limited scope of your lonely vigil. The available upgrades are: TITANIUM SHOVEL (Cost: 50 Coal): A single-use upgrade. This is not an improvement in technique, but in raw material. It increases your heat gain per click substantially, from a base of 8 to a new, upgraded value of 25, plus variance. This makes the decay slightly less terrifying. HIRE HELPER (Cost: 250 Coal): Automation. This helper works independently, adding small amounts of coal (1 unit) and heat (5 units) to your stores periodically. The helper operates on a chance-based system, triggering approximately once every second. THE SUN (Cost: 10,000 Coal): The end. This is the ultimate, non-negotiable end-state. You must manage your coal. The costs are high, and the initial returns are low. The acquisition of the TITANIUM SHOVEL is mandatory for any meaningful progression. The Pursuit of Tiers: A Momentary Escape If you shovel enough, if you click enough, the fire will change. These are momentary shifts in the reality of your confinement, visual indicators that the energy is momentarily stable: MAXIMUM EFFICIENCY (200°+): The fire turns Blue. The base shifts, the background darkens to a cold cyan, and the world is briefly silent and efficient. UNSTABLE PLASMA (500°+): The fire turns Purple. The color saturation increases, the background dims further, and the warning appears: "UNSTABLE PLASMA". CRITICAL MASS (1200°+): This is the failure state. The fire becomes white, the stage shakes, and the system screams "CRITICAL MASS". The heat is too much, the system is failing, and the flame itself is a destructive force. The Ultimate Prize: A Permanent End to the Cold The only true goal is THE SUN. The price is immense, reflecting the weight of permanent release. Upon purchase, the fire ceases to be a fire. It becomes a vast, white-hot, light source. Your warmth is fixed at 5000°, represented by the symbol "∞". The system states simply: "YOU OWN THE SUN.". The task ends. The cold is permanently banished. The keeper’s vigil is over. I Am Cold: Fire Keeper is a simple exercise in managing exponential decay with linear effort. It is a game about the constant, small act of putting in. There are no twists, no complex mechanics, and no escape from the sound of your own, lonely shoveling. The sound effects are simple, low-frequency oscillations. The animations are brief and functional, the coal flies from the button to the fire, and sparks fly out upon impact.
