Overview

Record any tab or your mic and transcribe audio to text. Audio not stored after transcribing, never used for training. 99 languages.

The Hushscript extension records the audio playing in any Chrome tab (a webinar, lecture, podcast or browser meeting), your microphone, or both, and turns the speech into text with speaker labels. It is built for privacy. The extension cannot see the pages you visit, and Hushscript does not store your audio after transcription and never uses it to train models. Prepaid minutes, no subscription: transcription costs from $0.50 per hour of audio, and the smallest pack is $1.99. Recording and saving a local copy work without an account. To upload recordings for transcription, sign in to Hushscript. Your account holds your minutes balance and your transcripts. Eligible personal accounts get 30 free minutes once, after card verification or with a first purchase. WHAT YOU GET - Start from the Hushscript toolbar button: record the current tab, your microphone, or both at once. The tab stays audible while you record. - Record up to five tabs at the same time. The side panel workspace shows all recordings in progress and files on this device, with pause, resume, stop, upload, save and delete controls. - Pause and resume, or start and stop with a keyboard shortcut (Alt+Shift+R by default, rebindable on chrome://extensions/shortcuts). - Recordings are saved to your device while you record, so a closed panel or a crash does not lose them. Sessions can run for hours, up to 10 per recording, with the elapsed time shown for each recording. Once you sign in, your minutes left show in the toolbar popup and at the top of the side panel. - Upload audio or video files you already have: choose them in the side panel or drop them there, several at once. Files up to 5 GB and 10 hours each, in common formats such as MP3, M4A, WAV, MP4 and WebM. Use "Upload all" or "Upload what fits your minutes", or "Merge files into one transcript" to join two or more, in the order you choose, into a single transcript. - Before uploading, pick the audio language, speaker labels, key terms and a prompt, or your saved dictionaries and prompt presets from Hushscript. Set your defaults once, or keep separate settings for each site you record. Your choices are remembered until you sign out. - Optional automatic saving: turn on "Save each recording to Downloads" on the Account screen (off by default), and each finished tab or microphone recording is copied to a Hushscript folder inside Downloads, as OGG or MP3, signed in or not. Chrome is asked to allow downloads only when you turn it on. - Recordings are made as Opus audio at 192 kbps in an .ogg file. Save a copy wherever you choose, as that file or as an MP3 that plays everywhere. The MP3 is made on your computer, and its temporary copy is deleted once saved. - Language is detected automatically and speakers are labeled. 99 languages. - The workspace's Transcripts tab shows your 10 most recent jobs. Copy a transcript, download it as TXT or SRT, or open it in Hushscript. Your full transcript history lives in the app. - Get a notification when a transcript is ready (optional, asked only when you turn it on). - Private mode: switch it on before uploading, and finish in Hushscript, where you set the archive password. No transcript is saved in your account. PRIVACY, IN DETAIL - Nothing is recorded until you click. No auto-start, no auto-join, no bots. - No content scripts and no access to the sites you visit. The extension never reads page content or your browsing history. For a tab you record, it keeps only the site name (for example, example.com) to reuse your settings for that site. The popup shows the title of the current tab. The title and icon are stored only while "Use the tab's title" is on. It is on by default, you can untick it, and signing out keeps your choice. - Only the recording you started or the file you chose, with its title, is sent to Hushscript for transcription. There are no ads and no analytics. If something fails, the extension sends Hushscript a short error report: what failed (for a file you add, its format and a rough size range; for a failed upload, how far it got and how long it took), where in the extension's code, and the extension and Chrome versions. It never includes audio, titles, file names, page addresses or account details. Reports pass through Hushscript's own server to our error-monitoring provider, your IP address is not stored, and you can turn error reports off on the Account screen. - To keep a recording, save a copy to your computer. After an upload, the extension's own copy stays on your device until the transcript is ready (at the latest 7 days after upload), then it is removed; you can also delete it yourself. Canceling an upload keeps the file so you can retry or save it. A file you upload is copied into the extension's storage and deleted the same way; your original file is never changed. Signing out revokes the sign-in and clears it and the list of uploaded recordings. If Hushscript can't be reached at that moment, the token stays on your device only until the extension can revoke it. - Your sign-in is a narrow access token you can see and revoke in your Hushscript account. WHAT IT DOES NOT DO - It does not transcribe on your computer. Audio is sent to Hushscript to be transcribed. - It does not join meetings, add captions to pages, or type into text fields. - It does not take payments. "Buy minutes" opens billing in the Hushscript app. - It does not delete transcripts from the panel. "Open in Hushscript" takes you to the app, where deletion lives. PRICING Prepaid minutes, no subscription. Packs start at $1.99 for 45 minutes. The 6,000-minute pack ($49.99) comes to about $0.50 per hour of audio. See https://hushscript.com/pricing for all packs.
