Overview

Element-aware redaction, annotation & screen recording. Blur, hide or replace sensitive info. Export PNG, SVG or MP4. All local.

Hush is a redaction, annotation, and screen-recording tool that lives in your browser. Pick any element on any page — a tweet, a card, an invoice row, a dashboard widget — and hide the sensitive bits before you screenshot, share, or record. Export as a sharp PNG or as a true-vector SVG that opens cleanly in Figma. And when a still image isn't enough, record the screen and edit the video — with every redaction tool still live while the recorder runs. Built for people who screenshot for a living and have leaked something at least once — support agents masking customer data in tickets, sales reps redacting CRMs for demo decks, designers capturing UI for bug reports, founders blurring revenue lines on a tweet. Anyone who has ever almost shipped a screenshot with the wrong email visible. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ WHAT YOU GET ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ELEMENT-AWARE SELECTION Hover any DOM element — Hush highlights its exact bounds. Click to lock it in (or ⌘/Ctrl+Click any time). Press Tab to walk up to the parent. Works on tables, posts, sidebars, modals, anything the page renders. No more dragging a perfect crop box around content that keeps moving. FOUR REDACTION STYLES — PLUS RESTYLE Hide an element entirely. Blur it (0–40 px slider). Pixelate it (0–30 px, the kind that reads as "censored on purpose"). Or Solid Redact — paint over with the element's text color so it looks like a real black bar. Sliders have one-click clear buttons. And when you want to change a element instead of hiding it, restyle it: custom text color and background color. WORD-LEVEL REDACTION Don't need the whole element gone? Enter Word mode and Hush wraps every word inside the selection. Drag to select a phrase or click individual words, then apply redact, blur, pixelate, erase, style, or swap-in-a-sample — from a floating mini-toolbar that follows your selection. Perfect for leaving a sentence readable while killing the one number in it. SMART REDACT One button that scans the selected area for emails, phone numbers, credit cards (Luhn-validated), SSNs, IBANs, IP addresses, JWTs, API keys, and tokenised URLs — and black-bars each match individually. Knows how to reach into <input> and <textarea> values and placeholders, and even into PCI-compliant payment iframes (Stripe, Polar, Paddle, Braintree, and friends). Catches things you would miss visually. All inside the browser, no data sent anywhere. SMART REPLACE Same engine, different action: swap real values with realistic samples (john.doe@example.com, 4242 4242 4242 4242, +1-555-0100). The screenshot stays readable and demo-ready, but completely safe to share. INDUSTRY PRESETS + CUSTOM PATTERN PACKS Payments demo · Healthcare-safe · GDPR demo · Auth & secrets. One click flips the right pattern boxes for your vertical. Got your own vertical? Export the active pattern library as JSON, edit it, and import it back. MULTI-SELECT WITH SHIFT Hold Shift and click multiple elements to apply the same redaction to all of them at once. Or paste a CSS selector (.email, data-balance) into the Match input and Hush adds every match to your selection. STICKY ANNOTATION TOOLS Arrows, numbered markers (1, 2, 3…), highlight boxes, text labels. Pick a tool once, drop as many as you need. After creation, drag any annotation to move it. Drag corner handles to resize. Press Delete to remove. Style each one with custom stroke colour, fill, width, corner radius, font, and size. CROP BOUNDS Eight drag handles around your primary selection let you extend the export region beyond the element's natural bounds — perfect when you want a few pixels of breathing room. WATERMARKS — TEXT AND IMAGE Stamp every export with custom text ("Internal Only", "Confidential"), an uploaded image or SVG (your company logo), or both. Five corner positions. TEMPLATES PER SITE Save your redaction setup as a named template per origin. Reload the page, click Apply — every selector reapplies with the same redaction style. Built for repeat dashboard demos and recurring support flows. EXPORT IN PNG, SVG, OR SVG·DOM PNG for raster (Slack, Linear, Notion, email — anywhere). True-vector SVG with editable text, shapes, and image fills (drag the file into Figma and it opens as real layers). SVG·DOM for pixel-faithful browser-only output. All three are also one-click Copy to clipboard. REPLAY-PROOF EXPORT An optional export mode that strips the original (masked) text, data-attributes, scripts, and inline handlers from SVG·DOM output before it leaves the browser — so even someone who inspects the file can't recover what you hid. LIVE DEMO MODE Presenting the page instead of shipping the image? Flip hover-to-reveal and redacted regions lift while your cursor is over them, then snap back when you move on. FULL-PAGE CAPTURE One click scrolls and stitches the entire page into a single PNG — not just the viewport. SCREEN RECORDING, RELOAD-PROOF Record this Tab, an app Window, or the whole Screen — with tab/system audio and your microphone. Tab mode runs the recorder in an offscreen document, so reloading or navigating the page you're recording can't kill it. Draw a region and only that box gets recorded (the crop follows the box, even while it moves). Zoom-in-on-clicks punches the footage 1.3× toward every click for 2 seconds — your view is untouched. A Loom-style camera bubble rides along; drag it, double-click to resize it. A countdown gets you ready, a floating pill gives you timer, pause, and stop, and Hush's own chrome fades out of the footage. Every redaction and annotation tool keeps working while you record. HUSH STUDIO Stop a recording and the clip opens in Studio automatically: trim and split on a timeline, add zoom keyframes (level, timing, and aim — drag the video to point the zoom), drop in a background (presets, solid colour, or your own image) with padding, corner radius, and shadow. Export as MP4 (H.264) with automatic WebM fallback, or download the untouched original. Full undo/redo. Recordings live in local storage — the last three are kept. FLOATING LAUNCHER A small movable bar at the bottom-right of every page — Redact, Annotate, Export, Record, Settings, plus one-tap Pick, Undo, and Help. Drag to reposition; position remembers itself. No more hunting for the toolbar icon. KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS H hide · S solid · B blur (cycles +8 px) · P pixelate (cycles +6 px) · R reset · C copy · Cmd+Z undo (any operation) · Tab walk to parent · Esc cancel · Shift+click add to selection · Delete remove annotation. In Word mode: R redact · B blur · P pixelate · E erase · S style · X replace. In Studio: Space play · S split · Z zoom · ⇧⌘Z redo. RIGHT-CLICK MENU "Redact this with Hush" on every element on every page. Skip the toolbar. UNIFIED UNDO Cmd+Z reverses any operation in order — style change, word effect, smart redact, replace, annotation drop, drag, resize, crop, template apply. One stack. No mode switches. PAGES STAY INERT While the panel is open, clicks on links and buttons on the underlying page do nothing — no accidental navigation, no form submits, no input focus stealing your keyboard. LIGHT, DARK, OR AUTO Hush's UI follows your OS appearance or locks to light/dark — so it looks right in your demos and screenshots either way. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ WHO IT'S FOR ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ — Support agents capturing tickets without leaking customer details — Sales and CS demoing dashboards with real-looking but fake data — Designers grabbing UI for bug reports and Figma references — Product managers writing internal updates with screenshots — Developers redacting console output, API keys, and dotfiles before pasting in chat — Creators and educators recording product walkthroughs with customer data on screen — Founders and marketers tweeting metrics without showing the actual number — Anyone who has ever pulled a screenshot back from Slack going "wait, no" ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ HOW IT WORKS ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Hush installs a small floating bar at the bottom-right of every page. Click it to bring up the toolbar. Pick an element — or hit Record. Apply one of the redaction styles, redact individual words, run Smart Redact, drop annotations, then Copy or Download. For video: start a recording, redact and annotate live while it runs, stop, and Hush Studio opens for trimming, zooms, and the final MP4. The whole thing runs inside your browser. Screenshots, redactions, annotations, and recordings are processed and stored locally — recordings live in the extension's own local storage and never leave your machine. The only outbound navigation the extension initiates is the brand badge, which opens fourline.ai in a new tab. Permissions explained: activeTab + scripting — lets Hush read and modify the page you are actually working on, and inject the rendering library when you click Export. Activated when you click the icon, the launcher, the right-click menu, or open the panel. Host permissions (<all_urls>) — required so the floating launcher and shortcuts exist everywhere, and so screenshot capture works when Hush was started from the launcher rather than the toolbar icon. Hush does not log, transmit, or analyse anything from those sites. clipboardWrite — lets the Copy buttons write your export to the clipboard even when the click's browser activation has expired. tabCapture + offscreen — power the screen recorder. The capture stream is fed to an offscreen document so a page reload can't interrupt a Tab recording. Footage is written to the extension's local storage on your device. downloads — saves the PNG / SVG / MP4 files you export to your local Downloads folder. storage — remembers your launcher position, last-used redaction style per site, saved templates, and appearance. Stored locally in your browser, never transmitted. contextMenus — adds the "Redact this with Hush" right-click entry on web pages. Content script on all sites — required so the floating launcher and shortcut handlers can appear wherever you want to redact. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ WHAT'S DIFFERENT ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Other screenshot tools see pixels. Hush sees the DOM. That changes what's possible: 1. Click the email, not a rectangle. Element-aware selection means the redaction snaps perfectly to the thing you actually want to hide — no fiddling with marquee handles to crop around dynamic content. 2. Go down to the word. Other tools stop at the element. Hush wraps every word inside it, so you can erase one number from an otherwise-shareable sentence. 3. Smart Redact catches what you'd miss. A regex sweep across the selected subtree blacks out every email, phone, card, and key in one click — including values inside form fields and payment iframes. The kind of thing you only notice after you've already shared the screenshot. 4. Editable vector exports. Most tools give you a flat PNG. Hush also gives you a true-vector SVG with separate rect / text / image layers — drag into Figma and keep editing. Replay-proof mode strips the underlying text entirely. 5. Replace, don't just hide. Smart Replace swaps real customer data for realistic-looking placeholders so the screenshot stays beautiful for marketing while being completely safe. 6. Redact during the recording, not after. Record with Hush and the redaction and annotation tools stay live in the footage — mask the customer's name before it ever hits the file, not in a second editing pass. And the recorder survives page reloads, which browser recorders normally don't. 7. Local-first. No account, no telemetry, no uploads. Everything — screenshots, SVGs, video — is processed and stored on your device. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ PRIVACY ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Hush does not collect, transmit, store, or sell any user data. Everything happens locally in your browser. The extension ships with zero analytics or telemetry. Your screenshots, redactions, saved templates, and screen recordings live only on your device — Hush has no way to see them. The only network activity the extension initiates is the brand badge, which opens fourline.ai in a new tab as a normal browser navigation.
