Overview
A local-first RSS news aggregator that replaces your New Tab. No backend, no proxy — everything runs on your machine.
What does Huminn do? Huminn turns your Chrome New Tab page into a fast, beautiful, and distraction-free RSS/Atom news reader inspired by magazine layouts. It aggregates all your favorite blogs and news sites into a single chronological feed—with zero algorithms and zero tracking. It also features an integrated Chrome Side Panel powered by on-device AI, allowing you to generate instant article summaries and translations as you browse the web. Why should you install it? 1- 100% Local & Private (No backend, no proxy): Huminn runs completely inside your browser using IndexedDB. Your feeds, subscriptions, and reading habits stay private on your machine. 2- Instant Open Speed: Your New Tab opens immediately by loading from local cache first. Feed fetching happens strictly in a background Service Worker without slowing down your browser. 3- On-Device Chrome AI: Summarize active web pages in 4 different formats (Key Points, TL;DR, Teaser, Headline) and translate articles automatically using Chrome’s native built-in AI models. 4- Complete Customization: Import/export OPML files, configure custom search engines (Google, Brave, DuckDuckGo, etc.), set feed retention limits, and switch between dark and light themes.
