HTML5 & Autoplay Blocker
Overview
Blocks HTML5 media autoplay and gives you control over video/audio on every site.
Tired of videos blasting at you the second you open a news article? This extension blocks autoplay videos and HTML5 media across every website — including major news sites like Fox News and CNN that try to bypass standard browser settings. What it does: • Blocks all auto-playing video and audio — even when sites trigger it via JavaScript instead of the autoplay attribute • Optional: remove all HTML5 video/audio elements from the page entirely • Allow muted background videos through while blocking audio-on ones • Disable blocking on specific sites where you want normal playback (like YouTube) • Blocked videos stay visible with a click-to-play button — you're never locked out • Tracks how many autoplay attempts have been blocked Works on Fox News, CNN, NBC, local news sites, and anywhere else that auto-starts video. Free and ad-free. If it saves your sanity, consider buying me a coffee — donate $1 on Venmo @kwiat. Every bit helps keep it updated!
