Overview

A HOW-aligned Chrome companion that listens to your meetings and coaches you in Meet, Zoom, Teams, Gmail, and any tab.

HOWIE Companion brings Howie, the HOW Institute's AI companion for moral leadership, into the work you are already doing in Chrome. In a meeting on Google Meet, Zoom, or Microsoft Teams, press "Start" and Howie hears the conversation through the tab. Ask "coach me on this moment" and Howie answers in the side panel with one clear, HOW-aligned move: what is at stake for trust, what you might say, and why. Howie doesn't join your meeting. Its advice appears only on your screen. If you share your screen, others may see Howie's panel. In Gmail, Howie helps you write replies that protect the relationship and make the next right thing clear. On any other page, Howie reads what you are looking at and coaches from there. What Howie keeps and what it does not: - The live transcript stays in your browser's memory for the meeting. It is cleared when you close the tab, start listening again, or quit Chrome. Audio is never recorded. - When you ask Howie something, the recent part of the transcript goes with your question so Howie can answer. Afterwards Howie keeps only the lines it cites as evidence (up to six) and the names of the people in the meeting, with the advice it gave you, so you can review your sessions in the Howie app. They stay until you delete the session. - When Howie cannot tell who is speaking from the meeting page, it reads what that voice said (and the lines around it) to suggest a name, shown as "likely". Those lines and the participants' names go to a classification service for that moment only; nothing is kept. - Your microphone is on by default so Howie can hear you; turn it off in the side panel. - Your audio goes straight from your browser to the transcription service over an encrypted connection using a one-minute token. Lightning Studios never receives the audio. - Howie doesn't tell the people in your meeting that it's there. That part is yours, and in many places the law requires it. If you were in a meeting with someone using Howie: https://howie.lightningstudios.ai/companion/privacy#in-a-meeting HOWIE Companion requires a Howie account. Sign in with the Google account whose email matches your Howie profile. Built by Lightning Studios with the HOW Institute, on Dov Seidman's HOW philosophy.
