HoverFX: Instant Currency Converter
Overview
Hold Alt and hover over any price. Instantly see USD, CAD, INR conversions with Lakh/Crore formatting.
Why I Built This I built HoverFX: Instant Currency Converter because I got completely tired of tab-switching. Whether you are comparing prices across borders like shopping for clothes in Seattle versus Vancouver, checking deals between Buffalo and Toronto, or booking a flight in eurosthe friction is always the same. You see a price like "$180 CAD" or "€145", and your brain pauses. To figure out what you are actually paying, you have to open a new tab, navigate to a currency site or a slow bank portal, wait through cookie banners, type the numbers in, and switch back. By the time you get the answer, you’ve lost your flow. I wanted something that felt invisible and instant a tool that puts the answer right at your fingertips without disrupting what you are doing. With HoverFX: Instant Currency Converter, you just hold a hotkey and hover your mouse over any price on any webpage. The converted value appears in a tiny, clean box right next to your cursor. No tabs, no waiting, no mental math. Everyday Utility for Travelers, Shoppers, and Expats This isn't an enterprise dashboard; it's a lightweight utility built for real-life situations: Cross-Border Shopping: Easily compare deals across US, Canadian, UK, and European stores to see if an item is genuinely cheaper after exchange rates. Travel & Bookings: Instantly check hotel rates, Airbnb listings, train tickets, and flight fares in your home currency while planning trips abroad. International Business & Real Estate: Quickly understand foreign quotes, invoices, or overseas property listings without pulling out a calculator every two minutes. An Extra Perk: Native Indian Numbering (Lakhs & Crores) As a bonus feature, I built in native support for the Indian numbering system. For NRIs, expats, or anyone doing business or buying property in India, translating $50,000 USD into Lakhs or figuring out how many millions are in ₹2 Crores is confusing because the comma placement changes. HoverFX: Instant Currency Converter lets you toggle between standard Western formatting (Millions/Billions) and Indian formatting (Lakhs/Crores) instantly, so you never have to count zeros again. Core Features: Hold & Hover: Hold your chosen hotkey (like Alt or Shift) and hover over any number to see the converted price immediately. Quick Switch: Tap the swap button in the extension popup to instantly flip your conversion direction (e.g., USD → CAD to CAD → USD) when hopping between domestic and foreign websites. Major Global Currencies: Built-in support for high-volume currencies including USD, CAD, EUR, GBP, AUD, INR, and more. Clean, Non-Intrusive UI: The floating conversion card runs inside an isolated container, meaning it will never mess up the styling or layout of the website you are browsing. Privacy-First by Design I built this tool for myself and anyone else who values a clean web experience. That means: No Advertisements: No pop-ups, no banners, and no injected promo links. No Data Harvesting: HoverFX: Instant Currency Converter does not track your browsing history, record the pages you visit, or log the numbers you hover over. Offline Math: Exchange rates are updated in the background periodically. All mathematical calculations happen locally on your computer, keeping the tool blazingly fast and completely private. Install HoverFX: Instant Currency Converter, pick your currencies, and make foreign prices feel like home.
