Hoverframe — Picture-in-Picture (PiP)

PiP for any video: a floating window you drag by the picture itself. Click to pause, resize keeps proportions. No tracking.

Hoverframe pops any web video into its own picture-in-picture (PiP) window that you steer with the video itself. The browser's own picture-in-picture moves only by a thin bar at the top, ignores clicks on the picture, and lets the window stretch into any shape. Hoverframe fixes all three: - Drag from anywhere - press any point of the video and move the window. No bar to aim for. - Click to play or pause - a click without movement toggles playback. - Resize keeps proportions - pull any edge or corner and the window snaps to the video's shape. No black bars. - A clean window - just the video under the browser's thin address bar; the controls appear on hover and fade away. - A button on every video - hover a video and press the PiP button that appears on it. Or press Alt+P or the toolbar icon for the main video of the tab. - Hover controls - seek bar with time, 10-second skips, playback speed, volume, expand. - Subtitles come along - captions the site draws over the video are carried into the window, with a CC button to turn them off. - Keyboard - Space or K to play or pause, arrows to seek and change volume, M to mute, C for subtitles. Works with HTML5 video on most sites. Where it may not: video services with copy protection (Netflix and similar) can refuse to play or seek in the window, and a player embedded from another site opens in the browser's standard picture-in-picture instead. Private: Hoverframe makes no network requests, has no analytics, and keeps its settings in your browser profile. It is open source - every line is on GitHub.
