Overview

Pop any video into a floating window that keeps its captions and has real playback controls.

Watch any video in a floating window that stays on top of your other apps, and keep the captions. Chrome's built-in picture-in-picture drops captions and gives you only play and pause. Hovercap pops the video into a floating window that shows the site's captions and has the controls you'd expect from a real player. How to use: Click the Hovercap button, or press Alt+P, on any page with a video. Click again to close the window and put the video back. What you get: • Captions in the floating window. Hovercap shows the captions the site is displaying, with adjustable size. • Captions toggle on YouTube. Turn YouTube captions on or off from the floating window. • A real seek bar with time preview, 10-second skip, a volume slider and playback speed. • Controls that appear when you hover and stay out of the way when you don't. • Keyboard shortcuts: Space play/pause · ←/→ 5s · J/L 10s · ↑/↓ volume · M mute · C captions · +/− caption size · </> speed. • Google Meet call controls. On a Meet call, the floating window shows the main speaker with buttons to mute, turn the camera on or off, raise your hand and leave the call. Private by design: Hovercap runs only on the tab you activate it on, and only when you click it. It collects nothing, has no servers, no analytics and no tracking. It doesn't ask for access to all your websites. Hovercap is an independent product and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by YouTube, Google or any website it works on.
