variante — A/B Test Element Picker

Browser extension companion to the variante Figma plugin: pick an element on your live site as the target for an A/B test.

variante: Click an element. Build a variant. Run a test. variante lets you A/B test your live website directly from Figma — no developer, no code, no hassle. This extension is the bridge: when you start a test from the Figma plugin, your site opens with the picker active. Click the element you want to test, and the selection flows back to Figma. How it works Start a test in the variante Figma plugin → your site opens automatically Hover and click any element on the page — blue highlight shows your target The tab closes. Back in Figma, the element is ready for AI variant generation. Manual fallback: paste a test ID into the popup if your site doesn't open automatically. What the extension captures when the picker is active Selector and outerHTML of the element you click Computed styles of that element (colors, fonts, spacing, etc.) Matching CSS rules from all page stylesheets, including :root custom properties and pseudo-states (:hover, :focus, etc.) Framework detection (Tailwind, Bootstrap, or custom) Goal candidates — up to 15 interactive elements (buttons, links, forms) with their selector and text label This data is sent to the variante API to store the test configuration. Nothing is sent to third parties, and nothing is stored beyond what's needed for your test. When it's active The extension loads as a content script on every page to be ready for a pick. However, the element overlay, highlighting, and data capture only activate when you either: Start a pick from the variante Figma plugin (URL param #ab_pick=<testId>) Open the extension popup and enter a test ID A cancelled or completed pick does not leave any residual data on the page What it does NOT do Does not collect browsing history, form inputs, passwords, or page text Does not track users or pages in the background Does not sell or share any data Does not modify page content unless you actively pick an element You'll need The variante Figma plugin (search "variante" in Figma Community) A live website you want to test Privacy policy: https://www.getvariante.com/privacy
