Overview

Capture browser traffic and send it to your Hoot workspace — feeds the autonomous AI security agent by Watch Owl Labs.

Hoot Interceptor (BETA) captures HTTP traffic from your browser and sends it to your local Hoot workspace for autonomous AI-driven security assessment. Built for offensive security professionals using Hoot — Watch Owl Labs' AI security agent — who need to feed it authenticated browser traffic. WHAT IT DOES When you open DevTools on a target web application, this extension adds a "Hoot Interceptor" tab. The panel shows a live traffic table (similar to DevTools' built-in Network tab) and lets you: 1. Pick a Hoot workspace — dropdown of your existing targets, with a live indicator next to workspaces that have a running session. 2. Capture authenticated browser traffic — every XHR, fetch, and page navigation appears in the panel while you browse normally. Hide static assets (images, CSS, fonts) with one click. 3. Send to Hoot — uploads the captured traffic to your selected workspace's Files tab as a slash-referenceable XML capture. The Hoot agent then reads the traffic inline when you reference it in chat (e.g. /interceptor-2026-05-18.xml). WHAT IT DOES NOT DO Honest scope, no overclaiming: • Does NOT intercept or modify requests — observation only (DevTools API limitation). • Does NOT decrypt arbitrary HTTPS — the browser already decrypted what it sees; the extension just observes. • Does NOT capture mobile, server-to-server, or certificate-pinned traffic. • Does NOT run when DevTools is closed (Chrome API limitation). • Does NOT persist captures across DevTools close (by design — fresh session each time). PRIVACY Hoot Interceptor sends data ONLY to your local Hoot instance. It does not transmit anything to Watch Owl Labs servers, Google, or any third party. Captures live in panel memory until you explicitly click "Send to Hoot". When you close DevTools, captures are discarded. The only persistent storage the extension uses is your last-selected workspace, stored locally via chrome.storage.local — never leaves your machine. REQUIREMENTS • Hoot must be running locally on port 7337 (default install). • A workspace/target must be configured in Hoot. • Active Hoot license. WHO IT'S FOR Offensive security operators, penetration testers, and red teamers using Hoot. If you are not a Hoot customer, this extension will not do anything useful on its own — contact us at https://watchowllabs.com.
