Overview
Block non-school YouTube on a kid's school Chromebook. Let homework videos through. Parents-only override.
Keep the school Chromebook focused on school. Homework Mode lets the YouTube™ videos teachers assign play normally — and blocks the gaming, pranks, and endless shorts that turn homework time into screen time. 📌 The problem every parent of a Chromebook kid knows. The school sends home a laptop "for homework." It's also one click from an infinite YouTube feed. You can't out-click an algorithm built to keep a 10-year-old watching — and the usual fixes don't work. The school leaves YouTube open for class on purpose. Blocking youtube.com at the router kills the videos teachers actually assign. Turning off the Wi-Fi kills homework too. Homework Mode is the missing tool. Install it on the school Chromebook, sign in once, and walk away. ✓ No district permission or IT help required ✓ No kid sign-in — tied to YOUR account ✓ 14-day free trial, no credit card up front ✓ Two-minute setup 🚀 Features: ✅ Smart Homework Filter – School-related videos play normally; entertainment, gaming, and pranks get blocked. 🚫 No Homepage, No Rabbit Hole – The YouTube™ homepage feed and Shorts are blocked, so there's nothing to scroll. 🎯 Tells Homework From Distraction – Looks at the actual video, not just "youtube.com," so a biology lesson plays and a Minecraft stream doesn't. 📋 See Every Decision – A simple allow/block log on YOUR computer shows exactly what was watched and what was stopped. 👆 One-Tap Allow – Something blocked by mistake? Whitelist that exact video in a single tap. 🔒 Parents-Only Control – Your kid can't turn it off. You sign in with Google; they never sign into anything. 🛡️ A filter, not spyware. Homework Mode looks at the video being opened just long enough to decide if it's school-related, then moves on. No browsing history. No location tracking. No data sold to anyone, ever. We never share anything with the school district. 🌐 Why an extension and not a router block? A router or DNS filter only sees "youtube.com" — so it blocks everything or nothing. Only inside the browser can a tool see the actual video and tell a lecture apart from a gaming stream. That's the whole point. 💲 Pricing: 14-day free trial, no credit card required up front. Cancel anytime. Perfect for: • Parents of kids with 1:1 school-issued Chromebooks • Students who get assigned real YouTube™ lessons for homework • Families who tried Family Link, Qustodio, or a router block and found it blocks too much or too little 👉 Set up the parental controls your kid's school Chromebook should have come with. Make the school laptop be for school again.
