Overview

See recent building permits and home improvement work history on Zillow and Redfin listings to better inform buyers and agents.

HomeLogs Permit Checker shows real permit history directly on Redfin and Zillow listings, so buyers and agents can see major work and potential red flags before they tour. Instead of digging through city portals, the extension adds a panel on the listing page with a clean “permit snapshot” for the property. You’ll see key projects (roof, HVAC, foundation, remodels), plus a short list of “things to double-check” when the listing claims upgrades that don’t clearly match the permits on file. What it does • Adds a HomeLogs panel on supported Redfin & Zillow listing pages • Shows a quick permit summary: total permits and categories (roofing, mechanical, electrical, etc.) • Highlights key history like roof replacement, furnace upgrades, foundation work, additions, and major remodels • Flags “double-check” items where listing claims (e.g., “new roof”, “finished basement”) aren’t clearly supported by permits • Links out to a full HomeLogs report with the complete permit timeline and exportable PDF Why install it • Homebuyers: Avoid surprises by seeing what’s been permitted (and what might not have been) before you fall in love with a listing. • Real estate agents: Give clients a simple, permit-aware snapshot you can reference in tours, emails, and inspection prep. • Less portal hopping: Stay on Redfin/Zillow; HomeLogs does the permit lookups and summarizes the important pieces for you. How it works • When you open a supported listing, the extension reads the address on the page. • HomeLogs looks up matching public permit records and displays a summary in the side panel. • For deeper detail, you can open the full HomeLogs report in a new tab. HomeLogs uses only the information on supported listing pages to look up public permits and does not sell your data or use it for advertising. See our privacy policy at homelogs.io for more details. What data HomeLogs Permit Snapshot collects and why When you use HomeLogs Permit Snapshot on supported Zillow and Redfin listing pages, the extension reads the property address, basic listing details (such as beds, baths, year built, and square footage), the listing description, and the URL of the current listing. This information is sent to HomeLogs servers to look up matching public building permit records and display a concise permit snapshot and related inspection questions in the panel. If you sign in with a HomeLogs account, we store your authentication tokens, token expiry time, and the email address associated with your account in the extension’s storage so you do not have to sign in on every page load. We also log limited usage events (for example, when the panel is opened or a report link is clicked), along with standard technical information such as IP address, timestamps, and extension version, to operate, secure, and improve the service. We do not collect health or financial information, personal messages, or keystrokes. We do not collect or track your browsing history outside of supported Zillow and Redfin listing pages, and we do not sell your data or use it for third-party advertising.
